My husband and I received a telemarketing call in 2007. I would always hang up, he did not. Woe to us, we agreed to a timeshare presentation which entitled us to a free dinner for two and free cruise tickets. The cruise tickets were not free, as it turned out later we discovered you had to send in a processing fee and then pay port fees, which totalled as much as just buying cruise yourself. The only thing we got after spending well over $ 10,000 was a $25 card, which bought us lunch.
Wow, did we think we had lucked out. We had prepaid vacations, and frequent flyer miles. The only thing that worked was for GEoHoliday, they got their upfront money. I feel so stupid, what was I thinking? High pressure sales combined with wanting to believe, and we were in. I wanted to leave and think about it, and then the salesman called in his supervisor to finish hooking us. We should have walked away to talk it over. Big mistake, never, never make a major financial decision on the spot. Especially if the deal is only on the table right then.
The only good vacation was the first one. After that, things changed. Geoholiday helps you with your first vacation. After the first time, it is a scramble to find something available that will fit your schedule. Also, the salesman lied. There are no timeshares on any cruise lines. You cannot resell your timeshare. Geoholiday willnot buy back timeshare.
If time share is so valuable, why will they not buy back their own product? The things that make you go hmmm?
There is a good blog online about Geoholiday scam, researched by a lawyer.
How are timeshares even legal? Great huge ripoff.
Good luck getting a call back. I have emailed, left message, etc etc to no avail We were cheated out of 5,000 points this year alone. They will give us points back next year, and that means another maintenance fee. The maintenance fees rise every year, no rhyme or reason. The only financial reports are projected expenses, which are not worth the paper on which they are printed.
Stay away from Geoholiday, Starpoint Resorts, etc.
