Georgia Check Recovery, Jersey Ga Contacted me about a check they said i had written in 2009 and they wanted me to pay $150 for a $25 check. Once i started asking questions, the lady became very nasty saying they would take Legal Acti jersey, Georgia

Received a notice on the 20th of August 2012 regarding a check that was supposedly written in 2008 for $25.00 no copy of the actual check which i wanted to see the signature on. Once i started asking questions, the lady began to be very rude and nasty saying "you know you've been getting these notices".  When she gave me the address that the notices were being sent to, I indicated that i had not lived there in almost 11 years.  She proceeded to tell me that they are going to take legal action if i do not pay $150 to cover the $25 check that was written. 

I asked her the name of the company that the check was written to and she gave me the name and said do not contact them, they have turned the matter over to our company.  I called the Company anyway and spoke to the manager who informed me that they stopped taking checks in 2007.  If that is the case, how could the possibly have a check that i wrote in 2008 to a company that stopped accepting checks in 2007. 

When i called Ga Check Recovery back and asked to speak to the manager, she transferred me to a voice mail, then when i pressed "0" to go to the operator to see if another representative would answer and maybe assist me, it went straight back to the original lady i spoke to.  What company only has two people working trying to collect debts.  I think this is a scam and I'm going to report them to the BBB immediately.  I have since contacted my lawyer and he will be handling the matter from this point on.  I just wanted to put this out there if there are other individuals who have been contacted by this company.  Do your research and ask alot of questions.
