 In 2009, I filed a complaint against a Georgia Dentist with the Georgia Secretary of State Dental Board.  After 9 months, they found No Merit in my Complaint.  Let me say that this is typical of the so called Conservative Office of the Secreatary of State - headed by Brian Kemp.  Mr. Kemp has been re-elected several times.  In 2014, the citizens of Georgia had an opportunity to elect a fine woman named Doreen Carter for the Secreatry of State position, but she failed to win.  Ms. Carter would have been more liberal and on the side of the citizens who filed such complaints.  However, as they say, You Get What You Vote For.

I now want the reader to see what this dentist did to me to cause me to file a complaint with the Dental Board.

There are many fine dentists practicing today.  Dentists who are honest and truly care about the well being of their patients.  Dentists who are a credit to their profession.

Between 2007 and 2009, I had the bad luck to use a dentist who cared more about how much money he can make off of a patient - rather then their needs.

This dentist,  I will not name because he threatened to put me in jail if I wrote a bad review on him.  However I will tell you that he cheated me by pretending there were cavities when there were none.  He filled teeth that needed no fillings and took out perfectly good fillings.

I had two teeth growing together on my lower right side, which gave me no pain and helped me balance my jaw better - as I have TMJ.  This dentist, in efforts to get more money out of me, convinced me, by scare tactics, to remove the back tooth.  I told him repeatedly that I needed to keep the one in the front in order to preserve my smile.  He pulled the one tooth back in early 2008.

The other tooth was fine.  Yet, when I visited this dentist for cleanings, he would shake that one tooth as if trying to shake it loose.

I regret I was not smarter then.  I put my trust in this dentist - not knowing his sinister intentions.

Unknown to me, at the time, his Big Ego, was harmed.  He wanted to pull out both teeth, and I had said NO.  In February, 2009, I went in for a cleaning.  The hygentist yelled out, "You Have a Cavity".  I said, "In Which Tooth?"  She said, in that front tooth.  I said, "That is the Tooth I want to Keep?  She said, "That is the Tooth HE (meaning the dentist) wants to pull".

The dentist agreed to put a filling in it.  In early March, 2009, I went in for the filling.  This dentist drilled and drilled the tooth.  Then, the took an x-ray, and exclaimed, "There is not enough tooth structure, and I have to pull the tooth."

I was in fear and shock and unable to think straight.  He pulled the tooth because that was what he wanted.  When I asked him why he did this to me, he replied, " I did not want to hear you whine and complain, Dr. _________, why did my filling fall out?"

I asked him to put in an implant at no charge or give me money to fix what he did to me?  He would not.  I was not able to get a lawyer to help me.

One of the girls in his office, was a witness to all this.  She had been fired by this dentist some time later, and agreed to help me by being a witness.

In 2009, I filed a serious complaint, aganist this dentist with the Georgia Secretary of State Dental Board.  I gave them facts, supporting documents, the name of the witness, and the name of another former patient, to whom he did a similiar thing.

I patiently waited out the 9 months I was told was needed, by the Dental Board, for them to do an investigation.

I had sent them updates from time to time.

To make a long story shorter, exactly 9 months later, I received a form letter stating that my complaint had No Merit.

I called the witness, who agreed to help me.  I asked her if she had ever been contacted by the Dental Board.  She replied, NO.

I was very upset.  I both called and written the Dental Board several times asking them Why they had not contacted the witness, and to re-open the complaint.

They sent me another form letter saying they would not help me further.

I went on the internet, and found a few other people, who have also filed complaints against other Georgia dentists - all of whom had the same experience I did. 

They waited 9 months, then got a form letter stating their complaint has No Merit.

I guess The Georgia Secretary of State Dental Board just Stacks, all the complaints they get, month by month.  Then, when the magical 9 months pass, they grab that stack and begin the Form Letter Denial Process.

What Georgia citizens need, is a Secretary of State, who will be more liberal and on the side of the consumer, and not just on the side of the Dental Corporation.

In fact, dear readers, the Georgia Dental Board is made up of an 11 member panel.  9 Dentists. 1 Dental Hygenist, and only 1 Consumer Advocate.

Therefore, the chances of getting this Dental Board to find for the consumer is  10 - 1.  These are appalling odds.  The consumer has no chance here.

Mostly you are complaining To Dentists, about other Dentists.  Guess whose side they will be on?  Not the public.

However, Georgia claims to be a Conservative State.  This is, sadly, what you get when you elect public officials who are not favorable to the citizen.

I pray that somehow, the Georgia Dental Board, under the Secretary of State will - themselves - be investigated for failing to look after the best interests of the people.

Perhaps things will change.  However, we are in the process of selling our home, and moving to where the public had a fighting change for justice- to the Northeast.
