We bought a new 2006 Toyota Tundra from Germain Toyota in Sarasota on April 1st with 20 inch rims and Pirelli tires on it. The truck shook after reaching a speed of 50 MPH.

Germain replaced the Pirelli tires with BF Goodrich. They didn't tell us why until we called the Service department that put them on. During installation of the new tires, they damaged a rim near the edge (closest to the tire). They said they had too many problems with Pirelli tires and Southeast Toyota (SET) would not let them put Pirelli tires back on the truck.

We made numerous phone calls to say that the BF Goodrich tires sucked. The ride was now terrible, nothing like the "test drive" we took with the Pirelli tires.
Bill, the Service Manager, didn't care. He said there was nothing he could do. We had to call the General Manager, Kevin, and make him get us Pirelli tires back on the truck. We have to give them a website of for them to order the tires.

When they put the new Pirelli tires on the truck, they replaced the previous rim they damaged but they damaged 2 more rims. They are not excepting responsibility for it. We have had nothing but terrible customer service from this dealership ever since we bought the truck.
They only care to sell you the vehicle. They don't care to service the vehicle after the sale.

They test drove the truck with the BF Goodrich tires and the new Pirelli tires. They are saying that we had to run over a curb to get the marks on the one rim. We didn't. We don't run over curbs. I think they might have run over a curb when they test drove it and didn't tell us. The marks that are on the other rim are smaller, look like tool marks. The are five smaller marks.

Also, we have not received any paperwork saying what it is they have done to the truck. We can't get documentation from them to show anything. Every time we took the truck down there (34 miles round trip) I told them that the alignment is not right. It still pulls to the right. Every time they told me they would re-align the truck. When we brought up the alignment on our last visit, they said that the roads in Florida are crowned so there is no way to tell if the alignment is correct when driving. They also said that the higher the tire the harder it is to get the alignment correct. We have a jeep with 38 inch tires on it and the alignment is just fine on it.

I think that because we are females they think we don't know what we are talking about. I believe they also have a problem with the fact that we are lesbians.
We have been down to the dealership 5 or 6 times now and each time it costs us $7.00 in gas each trip, which means we have spent between $35 and $42 in gas so far.
The salesman (Jason Schultz) told us that everytime we brought the truck in for service they would wash it and detail it. That only happened once and that was because we told them that Jason told us that would happen and we wanted it to happen. I don't believe that Jason lied, I believe that once again the service department has a problem with lesbians and didn't want to do anything that they were supposed to do for us.

Through all of this, we left many messages for them to call us that were never returned. We feel that we have been 'screwed', not just ripped off. We have decided to take the truck to Bradenton for any other service work, because we know they give good customer service and care about their customers after the sale.

The people above who had trouble with a bent rim, I asked when workd their to mount tire on 600.00 rim and said they could not as no machine to properly balance or mount as cannot be responsible if we crack these rims.  Here is your answer although it is too late, now you know. any rims like thess are taken to another tire shop to be mounted.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Rough ride is just part of the package....

I'm sorry to hear you don't like a rough-riding truck but that is exactly what you bought. A truck is generally not going to be as smooth as a passenger car.

The problem is made worse by your big 20" rims. The bigger your rims are, the rougher the ride is (assuming constant overall diameter of rim and tire). Different brands of tires might make some difference in smoothness but not that much. This is one of the reasons that stock rims are generally smaller than those stylish ghetto rims you are rolling on.

If ride quality was important to you, you made a poor choice of vehicles.

As far as the rim damage goes, yeah that sucks. But did you really expect a car-dealer to be trustworthy?

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

you say because you arte girls that they tok advantage of you?

AUTHOR: Toy - (U.S.A.)

First Pirelli tires are very soft and not really made for big trucks. you will get better ride and corning but not do what a truck tire is upposed to. nBF ggodrish does make a 20" truck tire but it is a harder tire and will not be as smooth as a ride. I am sure the whole story is not here as unless you would not pay to put new tires on, Germain would not do as they cannot speed balance and send out. They most likely told you. If you did do damage to rims as they (performance rims will nick with very little touch of side of walkor something siilar so you cannot say for 100% you did not do.

If they did pay what is due t speed balance and there would be no problem. They have one of highest CSI's in service dept. in region. There is no way to say for sure what happened to rims but as far as new tires, you should have known they have to be speed balanced and you say because you are girls you know a lot more then they think. Think again.
