GetaFreelancer.com ripped $150 off me, totally dissatisfied customer Lidkoping Sweden

On2/24/09 I created a project within GetaFreelancer.com to make some changes to a Raffle script done in PHP. I got lots of bids and decided to pick the resource TECHNOVICE who said he could do the work in 1 day for $150. $150 for a day's work is high, but I thought that meant he was good and thought like me. After all there was a single new print program and a half dozen edits or process changes to make in existing program. I asked him one more time before hiring him, are you sure you read my scope of work and do you really understand everything. He convinced me that he did and was talented enough to do the job in a day. I've attached all the correspondence including Skype and GAF project boards, to back up my statements.

Basically the resource has had nothing but excuses for why he hasn't been able to work on the project, or that he is waiting on me for something (which is hardly an excuse since I provided him with a detailed description of the changes to be made).

Example: First thing I wanted him to do is change a database element to a new name and make sure it wouldn't impact any other programs. That shouldn't take more than a half hr. However, I didn't hear from him for a day or two. When I asked what he had done when he finally surfaced, he said that he was now done with database change requested.

From the very beginning he was all about looking for a permanent job. Unlike most US workers who would be more concerned about doing a good job to impress a potential employee, so they could get a better job.
After a very long period of not hearing from him, he finally emailed me that he had been sick. I said that it was okay but encouraged him to start the project over again and that I would meet him in Skype to allow him to ask any questions if needed. Because of the time difference I got up early and we talked a bit. Again he disappeared.

After a month and a half goes by I filed a dispute, which he replied, so sorry boss, will do it now, please give me a chance, cancel the dispute and I will get to work. I gave him a chance and he never got to work. After another half a month goes by, I file another dispute. He says the same thing forgive him he will do the work and please cancel the dispute. I said no, he said the same thing last time and didn't do it. He says please. Now here is where I made a big mistake according to GAF. I didn't have anything else to say to the resource. I already said I wanted to cancel the project and take my chances hiring another contracter. Well if you don't answer the last response from the resource, he automatically wins the dispute and GAF sends him full payment ($150 I put into escrow for the project) to the resource. Even though he hadn't done anything (except the little half hour job of database name change).

I got mad when I realized that GAF had not only allowed him to continue with the project, but that they considered the project done and therefore gave him the $150. Now he had the money and abosuletly no reason to finish the project. I complained to GAF and the resource, GAF said that I had 7 days to respond and since I didn't respond there dispute policy is that the resource wins the dispute, and the resource said I told him I was changing the database so he was waiting on me.

With nothing left to do but leave bad references for the resource, I leave a very bad review of the resource. Then sent the resource a message saying to return my money and I would remove the feedback. I never heard back from the resource. I looked at his feedback and the feeback I left for him was replaced with a statement that said on 3/16 my review was withdrawn. I sent GAF a support ticket to tell them I never withdrew my review and they said they understood that the have problems and that I could be assured they are working to improve the option.

I told GAF to cancel my account with them and how disappointed I was with their complete disregard for customer satisfaction, let a lone fraudulent resources on in their site. If their mission was to help customers find good resources to do their projects, they not only have failed in my case, but they are not interested in doing anything about it when they are confronted with it. I will never give GAF another chance and anyone who cares to listen to for the rest of my life I will tell them this story to say thanks to GAF and their resource (TECHNOVICE / Md. Sajjadul Farooque Robin).

on 4/17 I posted below: A week has gone by and the project is not finished. Would you please cancel the project. The website I gave you to work in, is no longer working. Something to do with the database connection. So please just put the stuff back the way it was, cancel the project, and we will have no hard feelings.

That's all I've said to you. I would appreciate you just cancelling the project and returning my money. If you do I will change my feedback. I've been fair and honest to you, that's because that is the way I want to be treated.

I've decided to quite GAF, I disagree with their business practices. When I didn't respond the last time in the dispute process you were given my $150. You never did the work, you don't deserve the money. I'm a good person, who was taken advantage of. The work is still not done and I don't think you will ever finish the work. If you want to prove me wrong than do the work and talk to me on skype. Otherwise my feedback on you and your work remains as posted.

Please let me know what's going on. You said the whole thing would only take a day and that was about a month and a half ago. You said you would cancel the project if you couldn't do it this last time and it's been a week without progress. The first couple of items were easy to do, change a table definition and check for programs that use the old name to change to new, should have been a small task. The second task was to change a program that edited correctly except it limited tickets sold to one each person; to allow as many tickets as they wanted as long as they had the money and tickets were left to purchase. This also should have been a simple one, maybe an hour or two. When you estimated the who project to take a day of time, I thought that meant you knew what you were doing, as I think that's how much time it should take. Further I asked you if you understood the work to be done and did you have any questions. You said you understood and had no questions. I thought that meant you really did understand the requirements. Now I realize that you would perfer me to be with you each hour you are working so that I can answer your questions online as they occur to you. That means I have to work the same hours that you are and continue to help you push through the project. All of the above cause me to have a problem with the way this is not working for me. But the most important problem I have is the lack of communications with you. I can't tell if you are working on it, stuck on it, or when the entire project will be finished. It was not that important to me a month ago, however now I want it done. It's taking too much of my time, for an outserviced bit of work.

Let's try to get together this weekend. Perhaps if we worked together, I could help you better understand which programs to change and how to change them. There really isn't much work here. Maybe 5 programs to change and a new print program. We should be able to finish them this weekend easily. I will be on skype starting at 8:00am ET Saturday 2/14 to work with you.
