I am a disabled person who was interviewed and hired as a Pharmacy Technician for a new Giant Eagle Store and began my training in one of their pharmacies in a near-by town. I was told in the interview I would be making $7.50 per hour and working 40 hours per week. When I received my first check it was for only $6.70 for the 32 hour week of training and did not include the 5 hours of orientation. I called the HR Manager and was told that the person who interviewed me was wrong and that I would only be working 14-21 hours per week at $6.70 per hour. I attempted to speak to the manager six times and he never returned my calls. I believe this deceptive and discriminatory hiring practices and policies as I am disabled and over the age of 55. I told them I would be seeking another position because I cannot work for a company with such unethical standards.

I am an employee of GE pharmacies, and can vouch for them: there is absolutely no discrimination in hiring. In fact, it would seem like the pharmacy aims to employ people over 55, 2/3 of my coworkers are senior citizens. As far as discriminating against you because you're disabled... do you have any proof? It seems like you're just using it as excuse to fuel your anger over the interview wage/hours mix up. There are a few disabled workers in the main store and they never had an ill word about the company being discriminatory.
