my brother is a recovering drug addict.  he has been clean for years now with help from a perscription from a real licensed doctor.  he has been getting this perscription filled at giant eagle pharmacy penn hills shopping center location for awhile maybe 6 or 7 months. the perscription  is called suboxone.  it only became available to be filled at a local pharmacy recently.  it is a controlled substance and catagorized as an opiate.

when my sister arrived home from the pharmacy she gave my brother the perscription in a stapled bag with the receipt still on it.  when he opened the pill bottle he could tell right away it was missing pills.  they are a larger pill and it was noticable to him that it was short.  he counted them and 7 pills where missing.  not 1 or 2 but 7.  that is a week short.  she called giant eagle right away and was told that she was wrong and there was no way that happened.  they count the pills twice and that would never happen.

i really understand that to the pharmicist she probably that she was correct in saying that but they didnt even look into it.   to me i feel they didnt care at all and couldnt give my sister the respect she deserved being a loyal paying costumer there for 30 some years to even say let me see what is going on and get right back to you.  they said no she was wrong.

i want people to know because i would never think that this would happen at a pharmacy.  just like i would never think to ask my doctor if i could read his medical degree.  the whole problem is know one cares and no one even thinks to do anything about it.  i connected everyone i could in giant eagle most are very nice but they say we will check the counts of the medication at the close of day.  the counts arent going to be wrong if the person has them in his or her pocket.

i want people to check their medication before they leave the store because even if it was one pill for anything if you leave the store you have no rights.  i dont know if anyone cares but please tell people to check.  you have to think of it like this...  not about the person or what he is getting the medication for but what if its an elderly person who needs this medication for a terminal disease or someone who would be very sick or die without it.  what if you broke something and got a pain pill and your pharmacy workers decide to take one or two.  it isnt right or fair.

i have watched my brother struggle with his disease for a long time and was so happy when he got a little better with the help of the perscription and doctors and meetings.  to me know one cares because who would care about an addict.  i feel he was targeted because no one believes a drug addict, he is a bad person because of his disease.  so when you read this think about how they never even gave my sister the time of day to look into it. think about if it was a weeks worth of high blood pressure medicine and your mother or father needed a months worth and they told them that they were wrong and it was your parents fault.  think about how they gave your parent or grandparent  no respect to even ask the other workers there that night if someone maybe could have made a mistake.  my sister was in all honesty was told it was her fault and no one cared.  i cant do anything about this because no one cares about what happened to him.  i care because i dont want it to happened to anyone else i want to make sure that people know not to trust the pharmacy in their local stores.  i hate to think that but it is true.

if anyone has any ideas on what i can do please let me know.  i have contacted the corporate office, loss prevention, complaint office all of giant eagle.  i have also contacted the health board my state representative and i even mentioned it to the mayor of my township.  people are shocked to think that it can happen but it does and it will again if nothing is done.  oh i forgot i was offered a gift card from giant eagle.  that is so nice of them someone  steals a perscription medication worth 140.00 dollars and i get a 20 dollar gift card.  well i guess that solves the problem right?????  please help me make this some what right by telling everyone you know so it will not happen to anyone else. thank you!!!!
