We sold our house in Riverside, and since we decided to live close to my work, we decided to purchase a 2001 32'5th wheel Recreational vehicle, and without doing our math and trusting blindfoldly in these thieves, we purchased the RV from them for $40,000, this after we put the $4,600 down.

And months later we decided to trade in the RV for a much longer one (40'), but for our surprise the kbb value of it was $25,000, we could'nt believe it!

We felt like we were living a nightmare from which we wanted to wake up from. I tell you do you wanna know where to find thieves dressed as "good people"? RV Giant is one of them, So please becareful and we need help as in what to do with this RV, we don't wanna pay for something thats killing us financially, PLEASE HELP!!!!

Yes, definitely, the ripoff report was of big help, thanks a lot. By the way 2 people from Giant RV spoke with us today to handle and fix the situation, they were very polite dealing with us. Oh yes they know who we were, I guess they did'nt want to admit it to you, the name of the salesperson is Steve Wilson, maybe you would like to speak with the manager Mr. d**k Torres, because he said in order to settle with us, he wants the Giant RV of Colton complaint file be erased from www.ripoffreport.com which is understandable. His phone number is (909)981-0444.

Thanks a bunch!!!!!

We wanted to say we are very sorry if we gave a wrong impression of Giant RV. We would like to say that Giant RV is a great RV Dealer and that they are willing to help us solve this problem. The Manager was very sincere and was very understanding.

Rebuttal:

Gosh, I'm sorry, but I really don't know what kind of help you expect.

You even admit that you made the purchase "without doing our math and trusting blindfoldly(sic)".

We also purchased (in July) a new 2001 RV - a 34 foot 5th wheel. Prior to purchase, we spent two months on the web, and actually spent 14 hours driving to locations to shop in person.

Even the slightlest research would have revealed to you several things:

(1) Depreciation on a new RV is horrendous for the first (and maybe second) year.

(2) Markup is also high on these units, and in fact a "straight cash" deal should usually get you at least 20% (hopefully 25%) off the list price.

(3) The dealer is there to maximize his profit.

So, the numbers you show in your posting don't seem unusual to me at all.

Unfortunately, it is a case of "buy high and sell low" and the

consequences are obvious. Though I understand your emotion over this, I frankly cannot see that you are claiming that the dealer did anything unethical, and therefore I cannot fault the dealer. If you pay "full sticker" for a new car, is that somehow the dealer's fault?

Good luck !!
