If GIS reports incorrect information and you loose a job offer over it. Talk to an attorney. They have been sued 3 times for this practice.
There has been a few class action lawsuits. GIS lost. I'm not sure why the USPS would renew a contract with a company that has been sued and lost this many times, for reporting incorrect information. They must know someone in order to get the contract.
I've applied with USPS. I spoke with an attorney, before GIS started the background check. I have nothing in my background. So I expect my background to come back clean. I have an attorney, if it does not.
They are only allowed to check your background 5 years back in this state. That is per my attorney. I am still patiently waiting. I have been hired. If I loosed a job over incorrect information. I am most certainly going after them. If i am not working i will have nothing better to do any way.

Oh yes the typical.."You must work for them". Well sorry to burst your bubble, but I do not now or have I ever worked for this or any type of company that does background checks.
You seem upset I want GIS to do their job correctly. I am informing other people, so they know what to do if this occurs to them.
- If what occurs to them? As I pointed out, your original post didn't talk about any history and the only thing we knew for certain is that you haven't even gotten the background check back yet.
I have no problem with you wanting them to do their job correctly and agree with you. I was just questioning why you seem to be writing a RipOff report BEFORE the report comes back. You are so quick to write a RipOff report, are you going to be as quick to update this if the Background Check comes back clean?
The ironic thing here is that you are doing the exact same thing you are complaining about. You WITHHELD any sort of history as to why you would consult an attorney before submitting to a background check. Like you are accusing them of failing to communicate with you about the information they have, you didn't give them a chance to explain or "prove" themselves that they can provide an accurate report.
Yes, 12 years ago they reported incorrect information on me. They had my report merged with someone else's. I don't need the headaches. They didn't check with me. They just reported the incorrect information, I was terminated.
- And that is the problem with background checks. The issue really wasn't the mis-reporting(which I am not condoning), but they aren't going to check with you their job is to report what they find. You should have as much of an issue with your ex-employer who didn't give you a chance to explain before they fired you.
One also has to wonder why if you are so quick to get an attorney now, why when you actually were caused harm 12 years ago did you not consult an attorney then? Or did you and that is just something you didn't feel like disclosing?

I take it you work for GIS. You seem to be a staunch defender.
There are hundreds of background checks, consumer reporting agencies. If you are going to report information on someone, you better make sure it is correct, and follows the FCRA Fair Credit Reporting Act.
These are the laws your company must follow, along with individual state laws.
I work for a living, therefore I do not have time to monitor these hundreds of agencies, regarding the information they have on me. The agencies are the ones selling the reports for money.
If you provide/sell information that affects someones livelihood, then you need to be held accountable. Class action lawsuits are one way to hold you accountable. Someone or something has to, or anyone could sell information. It appears anyone can.
Yes, 12 years ago they reported incorrect information on me. They had my report merged with someone else's. I don't need the headaches. They didn't check with me. They just reported the incorrect information, I was terminated.
So when I saw the name of this company "GIS". I contacted an attorney. The attorney was happy to speak with me.
You seem upset I want GIS to do their job correctly. I am informing other people, so they know what to do if this occurs to them.
It appears to have happened to quite a few people. Hundreds of thousands, to be exact. That's how they were able to have so many class action lawsuits. It's not difficult to find this information.
I am glad you are so perfect and have nothing to hide. Sometimes perfect people will have incorrect information reported on them.
I certainly hope it happens to you. I am sure you'll be fine with it.

One thing background checks do is verify that the information you have told them, matches what they find. You have some very interesting statements that make it appear you may not have been totally up front and honest in your application.
I've applied with USPS. I spoke with an attorney, before GIS started the background check. I have nothing in my background.
- People with "nothing" in their background do not generally go out and consult an attorney before they do a background check.
They are only allowed to check your background 5 years back in this state. That is per my attorney.
- If you have "nothing" in your background, why would you care how far they go back?
If I loosed a job over incorrect information. I am most certainly going after them
- So the Background Check hasn't even come back and you are accusing them of providing incorrect information? There is a famous line that probably applies here "The lady doth protests too much...". If you don't know what that means, go look it up.
