I hired givenright.com and Jennifer Robinson to find my husband's birth mother in February of 2008. We put down a $250 non refundable deposit and signed the contract. Gave her all non-id info and a copy of his birth certificate. 48 hours after that Jennifer called to tell us she had found his birth mother and as soon as we paid the second $250 she would give us that information.

The next day I paid through paypal and called Jennifer back to get the information. She informed me that his bm wanted no contact with him and denied being his mother. Over the next 4 days she claimed to continue to have multiple contacts with her and wouldn't give us her name. When pressed she finally gave us the name as well as the grandparents names but again insisted the woman wanted no contact and denied him but Jennifer was insistant it was the right person.

After I did a very small amount of research on my own, I found that the person's names she provided us never even lived in the same state, were in NO WAY related and in fact didn't even match the non-id information we gave.

Jennifer admitted this must be the wrong person and then made up an unbelievable story about how the woman she contacted had alzhiemers disease and she didn't know what she was saying. She vowed to keep looking since she had our second payment. This was devistating for my husband, he wanted them to quit the search, he couldn't handle any more rejection or pain but Jennifer and Alicia both expressed their concern and desire to make the situation better.

I emailed and called Jennifer and Alicia over the next few months and got no responses. I tried to peacefully resolve this with them but Jennifer continued to ignore me until I started to send her ugly emails. She claimed to still be working on the case but refused to return my money because she had 90 days by contract. That only covers the deposit, not the second payment. We paid under false pretense that she had completed the search. What she did was make up a name she thought fit, and told us the birth mother rejected him yet again in hopes that we wouldn't continue our search. She just didn't want to do the work she was hired to do. She insists that the information is right to this day and that we used her information to find his family. In texas you cannot request your original birth certificate without your mother's full name, we were unable to do that because she gave us bogus information.

I finally contacted a search angel who did in fact find his birth mother and her name and his grandparents names and information are NOTHING CLOSE to what Jennifer provided us with. Thankfully, we had a happy ending because someone else wanted to do the right thing out of the goodness of their heart. Jennifer works under expired business licenses, she has been banned from paypal because so many people have filed reports on her fraudulent business practices. She works under different names and her employee's names. Are all these really the practices of a legitimate business?

Even the Better Business Bureau Agrees with givenright.com

This individual's husband requested repeatedly that we drop his search. We were obligated to do so, eventhough we expressed a desire to continue his search. This individual was told through Vital Records that the name we had provided was correct. With this information they were able to request a copy of his original birth certificate. Rather than bringing that to us to complete the search, they took it to a search angel instead.

This individual has also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, who did a thorough investigation, was provided several documents proving our position, and ruled in our favor, thus dismissing her case against us. Now this individual is lashing out through online complaint companies, since she got nowhere with a reliable entity such as the Better Business Bureau.
