I went to Glassmasters for a small crack in my windshield. Five days later the windshield cracked on both sides (larger than original crack).

They advertise a lifetime warranty, so I called them and they refused to fix it.

Now I have to take time out to contact a lawyer.

Terrible service all the way around.

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

A few points

AUTHOR: A - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 28, 2008

I was employeed by G.M and was a technician in a shop. I would like to admit that from time to time (with the rush put on us by management, district managers, regional managers) that scratches would occure. If we could'nt doctor it up enough so you would'nt notice then we would tell you (the customer). Several tricks would be used. they'd smear primer on the scratch then clean it with a scrub that would generally mask it until your first carwash, especially on black vehicles until the primer turned flat. Whiteout would be used on white vehicles. they would place tape over the scratches ,but after you notic or complain they'd say "well you drove off and signed that everything was to your expectations." I suggest you take photos befor you go close enough you can see the paint. Do this all the way around the edge of the winshield, hood and both fenders. One other thing to you may experience a howl or water leak after installation most of the time this comes from your wind shield being set by one person which you can find reports on youtube.com. You should search WINDSHIELDS and watch some reports. You may also be told the the technician is certified ask buy who and ask to see a certification. They may only be certified through G.M. standards and that may where your troubles are coming from. This comes from triing to do to much at one time. They over work thier technicians. At the end of the day all they "management" want to know about is how much money was made. If they are'nt happy generally the manager get chewed out. Ok the ex employee praised how G.M payes you insurance deductable. Ok thats funny. If you go via you insurance company. You should request to see all forms attached to the form you sign, because what they do not mention is if you were to call and get a quote and say you do not have full coverage insurance the price say on a chevy pickup 2003 would be around 135.00, but if you used your insurance they'd charge them maybe around 250.00 to 275.00 this is so the insurance company actually pays your deductable. so really they arn't doing anything special for you at all but raising the price for your insurance company. You should try calling getting your quote, document the amount. Then call using another number and name and get your qoute using your insurance. If you decide to get the work done I would highly recommend looking at the invoice that will be sent to your insurance company and comparing the price. Watch what you sign, because the way the invoice is set up when you sign the top copy it goes all the way through to the copy you don't see which reflects a much higher price that is billed to your insurance company. Just be carefull. Oh yeah if you have plans and count on being somewhere on time becareful i have seen people sit for hours when they were told it would take on hour. This generally comes from if we cut it out they can not leave. Incompitence and over booking can also lead to a dredfully long wait.

Didn't repair windshield correctly!

AUTHOR: Juanita - (U.S.A.)

I work for a glass company. So I know the reason for you to get the repair is to stop the cracks from spreading. If the repair is done correctly it will not run. Over time the substance they use to feel it in may wear away and it may run but definetely not 5 days after the repair.
