Shady Tire Con Artist! Buyer Beware! At first I went to buy some used tires from them, and I got an ok deal, but the next day I went out to my car and the tire was completely flat, and my rim was sitting on the street. I took them to a REAL tire place, and a REAL tire tech told me how unsafe the tire was that they sold me. He said the lining and treads had small cracks in them, and the tire could have ruptured at any moment. The problem is that they leave their tires sitting outside all year exposed to the weather, and that destroys the lining.I decided it was better and safer to take them back and get new ones.
So where is where it gets interesting: I went back to glens to exchange the tires I bought for new ones. I saw the first time I went there that the owners frequently like to huddle together, and are always on the phone when they are apart. It turns out that they do this to negotiate strategies to squeeze every penny out of their customers. Shortly after a huddle, one of the guys came over to me and offered to buy my other pair of tires (the ones I were not trading in) for a very small fraction of the price! My tires sell for $160-180 new, and mine were barely worn. He offered to buy them for $25! They could have easily turned around and sold them for $100 each! Nice Try, but that definitely won't work on me!
So they finally brought the pair of "new" tires from their off-site "warehouse" (They claim they have a warehouse for new tires off-site, but I'm betting it's just another tire yard where their customers cannot see their "new" tires being exposed to the weather). I had a look at these "New" tires they brought to me, and the rubber studs (the small hair-like tips on the treads that prove a tire is new and has never been on the road) were missing. They had a sticker on it, and white painted letters on the tread (not the whitewall) to "show" that a tire is new, but those could easily be added on a slightly-used tire to make them seem "new".
At this point I was tired of arguing with these scam artists, and just took the ones they brought to me. They tacked on mounting fees (which they don't do for the other customers), which they never said ahead of time that they would, and charge me a tire-recycling fee (even though they didn't the first time) for the tires I just bought from them a few days ago (which they will re-sell).
I was going to recommend them to my friends and family, I know of at least 3 people who are looking to buy some tires in the near future, but now I will recommend people to avoid the place. Worse tire place ever! I suggest you go to Costco, Victors, DIscount Tire, Big-O-Tires, Firestone, or ANYWHERE BUT GLENS! You have been warned!
