WARNING!!! TO POTENTIAL BUYERS AT GLOBAL AUTO MALL:

One early afternoon in June of 2000, I went to Global Auto Mall in North Plainfield New Jersey, the Hyundai section, and purchased a new 2000 Hyundai Accent. While on the test drive with my salesman, SAM K, I noticed at the bottom of the windshield, dead center, approximately 1-1/2 to 2 inches from the molding, an air bubble was clear as day. I felt it was a factory defect and brought it to the attention of Sam and he stated it was "fine" and "nothing will happen to the windshield" because of it.

My being naive to the car buying game, I actually believed him, as he was at least 20 years my senior and a very nice man. In the summer of 2001, the air bubble popped and made a star-type crack. I brought this to the attention of the Hyundai service manager, Krys K. She proceeded to tell me a rock hit my car when I knew it didn't. This star remained until the winter of '01-'02 then began to spread horizontally, approximately 3 inches on both sides of the star crack. In June of 2002, I needed to go thru state inspection. Being a single mother and extremely tight on money, I was worried I wouldn't pass inspection due to the crack.

Luckily, the inspectors told me the crack wasn't in the "failure range" (yet) and passed it. New Jersey inspection stickers are good for 2 years only. From June of 2002 to present, June 2003, the horizontal crack has spread to both ends of my windshield. I'm a single mother of 3 children and cannot afford a new windshield for my car. I also don't feel I should HAVE to pay for one, when it was a factory defect in which I brought to the attentions of the dealership personnel. I recently called Sam K, my salesman, and he remembered me and the windshield bubble problem. He vouched that he would attest to the service manager about the windshield bubble conversation we had during the test drive.

I was told to bring the car back in for evaluation again. When I got there, I was ganged up on, by Sam K. and Krys K! Sam stated to Krys in front of me, that I never mentioned the bubble to him. I asked Sam how could he lie to Krys straight in front of me. ((But being a salesman, I'm sure that didn't bother him.)) Krys, once again, proceeded to tell me that a ROCK hit my windshield... BUT... if there really was a bubble, then I should have made Sam K. write it down on the paperwork when I bought the car. She said the mere mention of the problem on the test drive wasn't enough and from now on I'll know better.

Afterwards, she then offered to fix the windshield for their "cost" and she wouldn't make any money on the labor. (If thats not an admission of guilt, I don't know what is.) I was totally railroaded by this dealership and would just like to warn everyone about them. I sent two family members to Global after purchasing my car, and they bought cars there too. I won't be sending anyone else there now. If anyone from the dealership would like to reply to this, I'd appreciate it.
