GLOBAL CLEARANCE INC LOTTERY AND SWEEPSTAKES SERVICES sent check toronto, Ontario

I received a letter from the company, Imperial Financial Links, Inc. located in Canada with a check enclosed for 3875.00 stating that i was a winner in the Shoppers Sweepstakes Lottery. I had won $125k and that the enclosed check for $3875.00 from Guilford Publications, Inc, in NY. The tax amount of $2875.00 had to be paid through Western Union directly to the tax agent.  The names listed in my letter was Bryan Mcloud and Jeff Nelson.  When I opened my letter I immediately called and asked the person to explain this to me because i automatically figured this was a scam.  When I told the person, I would have my lawyer look at this letter, the man hung up on me.  When I got to work, I looked up the company name online and found out other negative reports had been made  with this company under different names.  I called again and told the gentleman that I had looked up the company online and found numerous negative entries and that this was a scam.  He then asked me why I called and I asked him why was this company sending out fraudulent letters and he hung up on me.
