I acquired Globalstar service back in April of 2011. At the time they told me that they were in the process of launching new satellites and that the phone service would be very sporadic. They also said they would continue launching satellites each quarter until everyone would have service 100% of the time.

I spoke with several supervisors in the company shortly after purchasing my equipment and they  said the said the reason for such a low price was for dealing with the poor service. They also noted that after all the satellites were launched the price would go up. They informed me that this was the best time to sign up for service because the current customers would not a rate increase unless the customer chose a different plan, phone etc.

So I payed my bill of 20/mo + taxes etc for a whole year. Keep in mind I didn't not use their service more than about 10 min. in that whole year. Which works out to costing me about $24/min. Yes not a typo po $24/min. I was fine with that because I was told that I wouldn't see a rate increase after all the satellites were launched. Kind of like an investment to lock in a low rate for this type of service.

Fast forward April 2012 I  get my bill stating my stating that in May 2012 my bill would double to $40/mo. I call Globalstar and the lady on the phone assured me she didn't see my bill going up. So i thought they had lived up to their end of the bargain and it was just a mistake.

May 2012 I get my bill in the mail and guess what my bill had doubled from $20/mo. to $40/mo. I called globalstar again and the lady informed me there was nothing that she could do but to charge me the full rate or cancel my service.

When I first signed up with Globalstar I went on their web site and looked around. They had a plan that was called something like the North American unlimited plan. They didn't have a coverage map. Just a map showing where the phone would work. Being that they are a satellite company the phone will practically work anywhere in the world. That being said one would assume that with a name like Unlimited North American plan that you would be allowed to go anywhere in N. America correct? Wrong It doesn't cover Mexico. It did cover parts of Puerto Rico and Virgin islands but not Mexico???? Yet another time they have mislead their customers.

Now I ask you wouldn't you feel ripped off after being a loyal customer through the growing pains and then they increase your bill? Globalstar reps. told me that my rate wouldn't go up because I had locked my rate in prior to the increase. This company has horrible customer service. They mislead their customers and take their money for services they didn't provide. I would seriously discourage any one from doing business with this company.
