If you are a small business be very careful when talking to Yellow Page companies that call you. There is a company called GOAM Media that called our Tulsa office in March of 2008 and represented themselves as the Yellow book Yellow Pages.

They told our office supervisor that they had gained approval from Ace Transfer & Storage headquarters to place a listing in their directory and asked if they could record their conversation to get our verbal approval. Our office supervisor said that would be fine,since he believed that the order was already approved and he thought that the company he was talking to was a local yellow page company.

We have since received numerous phone calls and invoices from the scam company GOAM Media. We receive rude,harassing phone calls from Josh Greene(GOAM Media) on almost a daily basis for the last 4 months. Josh has played a spliced together recording of our office supervisor authorizing the order that has conveniently left out portions where GOAM Media misrepresented themselves.

We will not pay this GOAM scam company and there tactics of disrupting our business to persuade us to pay them will not make us give in. If you have the displeasure of being tricked by this company do not pay them.

Everything you've read about GOAM Media / GOAM Yellow Pages is true. They mislead people when they call telling them that the listing is going into the tried & trusted "Yellow Pages". They downplay the fact that this isn't a typical Yellow Pages. Their job is to scam companies that have little time to spend on the phone talking to ad sales persons. They tell you that the call is being recorded to ensure customer service, when what they are really trying to do is trick you into a verbal contract.

Words of advice?
Anytime anyone asks you if you can make the buying, purchasing or any other decisions, simply say "no thank you" and hang up the phone.

Always ask for an invoice first to take a look at their proposition first. Do NOTHING unless its in writing and you know what you are, or are not getting yourself into.
If you find yourself stuck, tell them to take you to court. Its their responsibility to prove that who ever gave permission for the contractual obligation had the authority in the first place to do so.
