I booked with the travel agency GoGo at Majors travel in Staten Island. My husband and I booked to go to Cancun Mexico January 10,2008 and had reservations at a hotel for 7 days. The morning of the trip I realized the brochure says that the passport has to be valid for at least 6 months before the expiration date. My travel agent assured me that as long as it's not expired, it's ok. I then called the GoGo company and the lady over the phone told me to call the airlines and canel right away and my travel agent will take care of my hotel reservations.

I told my travel agent to rebook everything for the 21st. She told us the next morning that were only getting charged $50 extra for the switch up for the hotel, and $100 per person for the airlines, which is a total of $250. What a relief! Then she calls back later that day and says that now they want $650! She said that she sent a fax the previose day to the hotel telling them to cancel, but they got it the next day so there going to charge us for 2 nights(which I later found out was all made up) I knew something was fishy, so I called up the hotel myself. I was told that my travel agent rebooked us to the 14! Then obviosly realized her mistake and tried to change that, which then costs $650!

So now I have reservations at the hotel for the 14th,which I can't get my passport in time. So then I call the airlines to see if I have reservations on the 14th, and I obviosly didn't. Now in order to go to Cancun on the 21st I have to pay an additional $400 for my travel agents mistake! What a headache, just when I though I was going to relax for one week!

I worked for GOGO for over 2 years, and FYI your passport issues is the responsibility of your travel agent not the wholesaler. You depend on your travel agent to advise you to the proper documentation. Just so you know I have not worked for GOGO for almost a year and hold no grudge due to the ecomomy. Your travel agent should of advised you and you should of used common sense and asked and not assumed. Did you advise your travel agent that you were within 6 mos of expiration.
