I am reporting 2 rip offs that in my experience worked together to result in a very unpleasant experience. Here goes the story. I was given a resturant.com gift card for 25$ free meal. The card does not say anything other and tells you instructions on how to active and then you have to print your coupon and take it to the resturant of which they give you a selection.
We chose Golden Blossom Buffet in Jeffersonville, IN and printed out coupons off to realize that you must buy a minimum of 35$ so now it went from free to 10$. No big deal thats fine right? Okay so we went ahead and went to the resturant at about 8:30pm they close at 10:00pm. Plenty of time to eat. We were told right away that we could not get the buffet which we had called and asked before hand and was told that we could. The owner whom which was identified as owner later on when she said my resturant is not making any money so this tells me that she owns the resturant. After finding that out we start reviewing our menu and it was agree'd that we could not eat 35$ worth of food so we would be able to order our main meals and then request the rest of our order and it would be cooked separate and we would be given to-go boxes. We figure out what we initially want and call the waiter over who did not check on us we had to go get her. After ordering our initial order she tells us that we need to order it all at once anyways but she could still do it seperatly for the to-go. As we are ordering every 2 items that we order I ask her how much is that so far. She does some guess work and I even make a point that I do not want to go over 40$. Finally she say's your at about 32-34$ so I request 2 orders of $1.25 spring rolls and say thats all.
Now let me rewind. After she told us we must order the full order at that moment she instantly started pushing ideas not suggesting ideas. She was like "You want a general tso, you want a bourbon chicken" so I stepped in and told her that I would like to be able to make my own decision. So at this point we have ordered aprox 32-34$ of food and it will be packaged as I said before. After about 10 minutes we get our first meal that was not our initial meal that we had requested, we got a to-go meal on a plate in no to-go box that would just be sitting open on a plate. Well we got our initial meal and then we kept getting the rest of our order all at once with no to-go boxes, all of it was on plates as if we were going to eat it all. Still not that big of a deal, I'm a pretty understanding guy and I did not make a situation of it, but the waiter told me that she had waited to long before she told the cooks to package it to-go and she would bring us to-go boxes later. Don't see what the big deal was by just getting some boxes and scraping it from the plate into the to-go box before they brought it to us. Anywho thats not really important.
So we eat our food. Most of it is okay I wont say the food was horrible it was your typical chinese food. We ate our initial orders which is what we knew we would be able to handle and then requested our to-go boxes and started putting all of it in the boxes that we did not eat. I go to pay the owner and she say's 55$ and some change I think 76 cents. I was like what? I'm sorry mam but I dont have that much extra money I told you that I could only spend 40$. She kept arguing with me that I did not make that clear and that it was not her responsibility to know how much money I had to spend. She told me that I would have to pay for the food even though most of it was untouched and that her resturant would be losing money because it was cooked and she would just have to throw it away. Okay and I'm wondering how this is my fault? Any normal american would have had a calculator and been able to notify me when I reached my limit that I had requested. How hard is that? So now I am stuck with a 55$ bill and just short of the money. I told the lady and she really gave me no option other than assuming I would magically have the money tomorrow and to leave my drivers license.
So looking at the ticket and only getting 4 meals that costed 7-9$ a piece and a couple eggrolls and 2 drinks I was really wondering how this could have been so expensive. So I requested that she recalculate in front of me. In that process which I had to repeat multiple times before she would get a new paper and actually do it, she made 3 mistakes that totalled 7$ which would almost have me back down to my 40$ limit. I was nice and did not rub it in her face and was like okay that sounds more reasonable. I was getting ready to pay and she said OH WAIT you have to pay 18% tip which is 8$ or so. So guess what now its back up to the same price i was before the errors. So with the errors and since she forgot the "tip" which I feel was not deserved, it would have been $60+ bucks. So either way it goes I'm still short of money. In the end I was 3$ and some change short. I told the lady this is all I have and she insisted that I must pay 3$ that was left and said her resturant was making no money because the coupon I had from resturant.com. Now keep in mind it is me, my girlfriend and our baby which is 10months old. So the lady says the only thing I can do is give her my drivers license and come pay it tomorrow. So assuming I can get the 3$ I give her my license to copy the information off of and she keeps it. I'm like lady? I have to drive home I have my family with me can you not just write down my information from my license. No I can not do that. So let me get this straight. This lady is making a big deal about 3$??? I mean does she not have a heart. She done ripped me off by overcharging, was rude, poor service, miss calculated my total, and now me with my girlfriend and 10 month old daughter your going to keep my drivers license over 3$ which is pretty much 3 of the 7-8$ the tip was. WOW!!
We dug through the change we had because I did not feel comfortable with leaving my drivers license with my social and information with this rude lady. Ended up coming up with just enough to pay and not even 1$ left to my name. When we left the lady had the nerve to tell us "Thank you come again, have a nice day". Rude horrible experience. I will never be dumb enough to use a coupon from resturant.com or eat a place where the owner is so rude, every again!!!!
I can not make your decision for you, however I strongly recommend to try double dragon or another chinese resturant before considering this place. You'll save time, money and have a more enjoyable experience I PROMISE!!!

I've posted about this a number of times. Why is it that people who complain about all you can eat troughs, usually do so about 2 or 3 dollars on their bill? Most times, it about the price of their drinks, though on this one I had trouble comprehending anything but the $3.

You are a complete idiot. Not only do you not understand the concept of coupons, grammar eludes you and so does the placement of dollar signs. Stay home and enjoy road kill. Apparently you don't know good food when you taste it.

It is not the restaurant's obligation to keep you from running up a large bill. They put prices on the menu so that you can figure that out for yourself. Just because you are weak in basic math does not mean that the restaurant is responsible.

That's funny. I know a lot of normal Americans an none of them seem to think that their waiter/waitress should also do double duty as their accountant. Most normal Americans can also do basic addition in their heads. Have you ever noticed anyone else using such a convoluted process for ordering a simple meal? Most normal Americans seem to have little trouble doing so.
Your post on this site has had the opposite effect for me. It makes the restaurant sound reasonable and makes you look like a complete doofus.

That's called sarcasm, which appears to have gone right over your head (no surprise there). I have no doubt that the owners of this restaurant would be thrilled if they never saw you again.

Are you kidding me, a waitress is going to bring a calculator to work to figure out someones bill as they are ordering.
2. Any normal american who is the low on money would stay home and eat.
3 If you were so worrieds about spending to much money you should of done the math yourself
4. were is the rip off or scam, O.K. the woman miss calculated your bill, Maybe done on purpose
maybe not.
Seems to me you should have stood home and ate, as you stated even if you left your license
you still probably would have gotten the $3.00 dollars the next day.
Moral of the story if your BROKE dont go out and spend money you do not have and come to
this site and call it a rip off or scam
