I had a bad experience about two years ago with Quantum Promotions, a company in Westchester. I was originally very excited to attend the interview, which promised work on behalf of charities for children (Toys for Tots, D.A.R.E., etc.). When I arrived, I was kept waiting for more than a half hour - which was enough time to read the marketing material they had laying out.

In trying to find out more about the company so that I could be more responsive in the interview, I instead found out that the company was set up more like a pyramid scheme. The marketing literature detailed how you could set up an office anywhere with just a fax and phone line, and "start earning right away"; it was poorly written, lots of errors in spelling, etc.

I finally was brought in for the "interview", which consisted of an alleged office manager reading my resume for two minutes (when I was told he had already reviewed it); no conversation AT ALL; and finally a dismissal. I was told they were "just meeting people today" - which I found odd because the man hardly even looked at me! - and told to return for a second interview the following day. When I started to ask a question, his phone rang, and he told me he had to take the call, I should call him later with any questions. The receptionist wouldn't answer any questions either, with the excuse that the phones were busy.

I left in a very disappointed, but also angry, mood. Ironically, they sent me an e-mail almost immediately to "confirm" the second interview (which I never set to begin with); I sent a very nasty reply back. The next day I got a call from the person I "met" with, telling me not to bother showing up; when I started asking questions about what work they actually performed, I was fed a lot of excuses about how they didn't take money from people, etc., etc.

I had almost forgotten about this incident until I answered another ad on monster.com just a few days ago, for Goldline Promotions in MA. The way I was set up for an interview, had no questions answered, and even the e-mail confirmation, all brought it back. Now highly suspicious, I found a posting from someone else here, who mentioned the product FW1 - which is proudly advertised on Goldline's website! I might add, the website looks professional, but is short on information about the company's ownership, management, etc.

After I discovered the posting here, I called Goldline; when I asked if they were affiliated with Quantum Promotions, I got an instant "no"; but when I asked for more information on the company, I was left on hold for more than five minutes before I hung up in disgust. PLEASE do not waste time on this company, I'm beginning to believe that this is a scam that simply shifts names and locations whenever they get busted. (By the way, Quantum is no longer located in Westchester.)

Almost fell for their scam

I am so glad I read this. I just got a call from goldline promotions "Hr" department they claimed to be and they left a message saying to call them back to schedule an interview. Something just was not right about that company and thought that before I called them back to investigate them on the internet. Thank god I did cause I probably would have wasted a trip down to Boston to find out this place is a complete scam.

A few more companies add to the list...

To amend my earlier report, the company in Westchester is called Child Safety Innovations in Elmsford; apparently, they ARE still in "business".

The more I investigate, the more companies with this setup I discover. The products may change, but the scheme appears to be the same. Midara of Ohio is spinning the same web with "real estate", but is just offering things door to door.
