I have been a member of Golds Gym for Just over 2 years. I attained my membership by taking over and existing membership. When I took over my membership I was told that the term would end in 2 years and I agreed to that term. When I called back to cancel my membership I was told that the term would end in July 2012. They also informed me that would need to give them 31 days notice before they would cancel. That is all fine, since this is common practice among the scammers of this world. I began to call head office the beginning of June 2012, this should be lots of time for me to set everything up and I would be free. Well, I was very wrong, I left several messages (11 to be exact) for 2.5 months and not once would anyone return my call. Finally I got the manager on the phone from the gym I had them membership to, not head office, no one would call. He said he would have their Accounts Personnel contact me right away. Well, 1 week later they contacted me and told me that I actually have 7 more months on my contract and the computer was wrong. I have asked them to produce my contract so that I can review the terms. I was told that the owners had changed and that she was not sure weather it was there, and she would contact Rachel at head office.

Wow, I have a name so I called head office and asked for Rachel, she was busy but did return my call. Rachel told me it would take several days to find my contract, I asked her to also find the person that I took over from, but she said that may be impossible. I wanted to confirm the number of payments remaining on the other contract that I took over. They push you to put an ad on Kijiji to find someone to take over the contact, I am assuming so that they can screw the next person. They will not recognize that you are out of town or that you have tried to contact them several times or even consider to accept any responsiblity.
 
I am still waiting to see if they will produce my contract, we will see... I am also curious to read the clause about the GYM Improvement Fee, where they charge you an additional fee without letting you know.

I will also be sending a registered letter to the Golds Gym corporation and will continue to post on as many websites that I can find to educate others in how this business operates. It only takes a few ripples in the ocean to produce big waves when they hit the shore. I will no longer be the person who sits on the side.

If others have had bad experiences with Golds Gym I encourage you to comment and submit a file with BBB. Maybe if we can get enough people together we can actually force these shady companies to clean up there act or better yet pay for there mistakes.
