I have recently received an invoice from a financial company callled Monterey Financial Services charging me $965.00 for services from Government Careers Inc.
I am upset with Government Careers Inc, because they had made false promises to the agreement prior to enrollment about their services. End of June, I had received a call from Government Careers Inc. from a representative name Richard. He told me he had received my resume from Careerbuilder.com, and that his company is not affiliated with the government, but help indivduals to get government jobs by their guidance, with interview process, and testing. He mentioned that GCI will polish my resume and get through the filter systems that government sites have. Richard told me that once I have a counselor call me, until I pass the interviews, get the job, and satisfied with the job, that is when I pay a service fee to GCI. I had to make sure he repeated and I questioned him that process many times because $965.00 is a lot of money for a service. I had to rush home to get onto a computer so he can enroll me into their website database, and enter his representative code. Right after that, I had received an e-mail attachment with application forms, and how filtering system works. There was also a number to call to talk to a counselor. Though I didn't fill out the application forms and fax it back, I was a little bit confused about their process. A couple of days passed, and I have not recieved any calls from their company, and I decided to call the number listed on the form, however it went directly to a voicemail, and it didn't sound professional, and I had also left voicemail for them to contact me back. A couple of days passed, I decided to go to their website www.governmentcareersinc.com to find a number to talk to someone to follow up. The lady named Amanda picked up, and did not know about my account, and said she would call back with a counselor to guide me, and I still did not get a call back. I decided not to think about it too much because there shouldn't be harm if the company is not going charge me if no service is provided.

Not until 7/30/09 I had received an invoice from Monterey Financial Services, and I spoke to a representative name Matthew about why I am being charged.

I told him I will not pay the invoice becuase I never got a response back from GCI, and he did mention I wasn't the only person complaining about the issue.

I decided to call GCI, they told me to write e-mail to Rudy because they only resolve issues through e-mail. However Rudy said he is not the person in charge, told me to write Rimona. Rimona wrote back to me that it is too late to be out of the enrollment because I didn't cancel within 3 days after enrolling, and because of that I was also responsible to contact a counselor and pay the charges because I had made an agreement on the contract.

I talked to Rudy on the phone 8/4/09 to find out if I can talk to Richard, and unfortunately, he is no longer with the company. I also talked to a rude lady name Amanda from GCI today trying to see if they can take me out of their enrollment because I feel that this company is a scam. She told me once I received their study materials I have to pay a fee. That was not I was promised by Richard from their company. I repeated what Richard told me about they should had provided me, and until I got the jobs and satisfied, that is when I pay the fee. She told me no one ever uses that script. I feel victimized, and I asked her to let me talk to someone to get me off their enrollment, and wouldn't and rudely told me that she had other phone calls to take care of than hanlde me. I told her I will report her company because it is fraudulent.

I am a waitress and jobs seeking on the side, and when a company like this tries to ruin my credit in hard times, I feel like there's no one to ask for help. I only want to make sure this company takes me off their contract and not charge me because I never felt like they ever benefitted me nor they promised me their services.
