Although the hotel has been seemingly reinvented - from outside appearances, I suggest you be very careful with your personal belongings should you choose to stay here. i had the misfortune of having my bags ransacked and cash stolen. worse yet, the security staff did not appear to take a great interest in helping to catch the perpetrator. Even worse, I have reason to suspect someone on the security team committed the crime. In the end, I walked away with only an "I'm sorry and was $400 lighter for the experience. Management refuses to respond to my complaints. I expected more from an establishment that pretends to be better than its competition. That is simply not the case. The lack of professionalism from the staff is worse than the actual loss.

although the theft occured and the crime nor culprit were apprehended, the general manager of the resort truly stepped up and did the right thing. his care and genuine concern over the entire situation was meaningful and his attempt to resolve the crime was admirable. he also promised to reimburse the lost funds, something i didnt ask for or expect. i thought his actions were admirable and were befitting of an establishment such as the grand sierra. i most certainly applaud his professional and ethical behavior. he certainly deserves compliments, praise and my gratitude
