When I saw a local TV spot on this company, I thought I would give them a try for an upcoming sale I was planning because of a move. I send an inquiry through email, and received a call about 2 weeks later to schedule the sale for April 2014 (about 4 weeks away from my inquiry). The lady on the phone explained the charges and took my CC information to hold the date. About 3 days before the sale, I became very nervous because I had not heard from anywone since the initial call. I finally received a call back from the new customer service manager, Tammy, explaining that the prior CSR was fired (yes, she told ME that she was fired, which I think is against the law), and that we had to reschedule for May. I was OK with that. Fast forward to May, and again we are 3 days from the actual sale and no communication. Tammy finally calls and says that she will have a truck to my house on Wednesday before the sale so the guys can help move everything (furniture and boxes to the garage). I had signed up for the package that would include moving and haul away. Wednesday night comes and no guys....Apparently they were held up in traffic and couldn't make it over. I spent the entire day waiting for the crew and not even a phone call from Tammy. I had to call her to find out what was going on. She sent them back over the next day, and the guys were on time and moved everything. It took them about 5 hours, so I bought them lunch and tipped them. Day of the sale, two guys show up and it was their first day and didn't know what to do. THe "supervisor" shows up about 30 minutes late because he got lost. Meanwhile there were several customers waiting to buy things, who left because they didn't want to wiat. Sale went well, and I think the guys got the most money they could get for my stuff. RIP OFF portion....at the end of the day when we were tallying up the total costs, Tammy insisted that I owed $400 + commission instead of the $195. I showed the supervisor the emails, and she still wanted to charge me more because she said it took the guys longer to move my things....NOT MY FAULT IF THEY ARE SLOW! I also reminded her that I bought them lunch, tipped them, and allowed them to make personal calls. They also spent a lot of time taking pictures of my things to send to Ben. After much discussion, we agreed upon the rate. Fast forward another week. I was supposed to receive a receipt in the mail of the donations that they dropped off. However, I checked CL and found out they were selling most of my things. So, I emailed Tammy to ask where my cut of the sales were and she said I wouldn't be receiving a cut, because she was told to sell everything she could to make up for the discount I was given. Isn't that illegal? To this day, after NUMEROUS requests, I have not received my cut of the sales or the donation receipt. My next step is the BBB.

Very sorry for your frustration.
We fall short sometimes, however we always do good honest business and will fix any wrong on our end. The reason we fall short sometimes has to do with us being a small business and getting spread too thin. That's not an excuse for ever falling short, but unfortunately we do fall short sometimes. The majority of the time however, we follow through completely and create a happy customer.
We've recently changed our business model to provide a better service for our customers as for our removal and selling services.
In regards to these specific accusations, we don't have a customer named Marie K so we can't check into this information to see what is or is not correct. If we messed up and there's anything we can reasonably do to make you feel content, we would be glad to do that.
Also note that as for items after garage sales, we have clear deals with our customers and in many cases we either purchase re-sale rights from the customer for the right to resell the items after the sale, would put larger items on consignment, would do a mix between the above and bringing items to Goodwill or would bring all to Goodwill/dispose. We absolutely never sell items we don't own or that aren't on consignment and we are clear with customers.
No items are ever in any situation sold without agreed upon terms with customer. Items are never sold to make up for any discount unless agreed upon with the customer before selling. Without even knowing the customer's information, we know this in specific did not happen, as we don't ever do that.
Please contact us directly by phone (832-713-8590) or email info (at) GrandSlamGarageSales.com. We would like to speak with you to see who this is and again if there is something we messed up on and there's something we can reasonably do to fix the situation/make you feel content, we will do it.
We hope to hear from you so we can discuss this matter, clarify and resolve this.
We've been in business since 2004 and have created a lot of happy customers. Here are just some of the happy testimonials below....
"Our garage sale was a breeze thanks to the friendly, professional staff at Grand Slam Garage Sales. They arrived on time, set everything up, dealt with all of the customers and cleaned up after the sale. The sale was very successful, and now we have lots of extra space in our closets and garage." - Kathryn A.

"We contacted Grand Slam to handle an estate sale for our parent's home. They were able to work us into their busy schedule because we had an upcoming closing date. They were also willing to add an additional day to the sale to help us make even more money. The company was also willing to help sell the items that did not sell at our sale. The people that were running the sale were very helpful."
- Elizabeth B.
The degree of professionalism of these young men is phenomenal. Understandable and thorough, the whole operation from start to finish was a pleasant and very refreshing experience. I wholeheartedly recommend the company and its staff.
