I purchased a 2005 Dodge Dakota pickup from this dealership on 1/26/2010. This was my first auto purchase and I am a Marine who was stationed in 29 Palms. I purchased the truck to be able to take my fellow Marines places on our free time. I recieved a loan for the auto through NFCU. They sent me letters starting in February stating that they (NFCU) had not recieved the title to the truck yet. I have spoke to NFCU and assistants at Granger Bros trying to get this situation cleared up. I had orders to leave on a 6 month MEU so I obtained a power of attorney for my mom and requested she help investigate the situation to obtain a solution. Her investigation had the following findings: NFCU researched their database and informed us that the truck had a lein on it by the state of CA. The dealership was then contacted and my mom spoke to David Granger , one of the owners and he made the following statements: He purchased the vehicle from a towing company that had towed the truck from the local Marine base. He stated that he went to the towing company and paid all fees and then to the DMV to pay fines that were attached to that truck. At no time did he state that he checked to make sure the title was clear so that he could sell the vehicle legally. We contacted CA Dept. of Consumer Affairs and inquired if this was a requirement by Ca. state law that a dealer only sell vehicles that have a clear title and they informed us that it is. At this point we are in the process of obtaining legal aid to resolve this situation on a truck that I have now paid 6 months worth of payments on plus furnished repairs to and provided prevenitive maintenance to. I am going to be out a substantial amount of money due to the unethical treatment. How does a dealershipthat offers additional services to our servicemen treat one of our Marines this way?
