I ordered the FREE Grant Master CD and started reading about online grant scams, so I called to cancel it. The representative said I had 7 days to take advantage of the program for free before I cancel.

So, I agreed, but thought I would forget to cancel if I waited 7 days, so I called back within 2 days and told them to cancel it. The rep was nice about it and said it was cancelled and my account would NOT be charged.

So, today I looked at my online bank account and there is a charge of $9.95 from "Network Agenda". I didn't recognize the name so I investigated and it was Grant Master! I called back today and another representative told me they couldn't find my account.

I wasn't surprised since I CANCELLED it. Then took the last 4 didgets of my acct number and suddenly found the account. He said there was one number off on my zip code is why he couldn't find it at first.

He confirmed my account was charged the $9.95..he went on to say how the representative did indeed cancel the Grant Master account, but didn't cancel the "Bonus" features of the account. So this is why I was charged. I questioned what the "Bonus" feature was since I didn't know what he was talking about.

I went on to tell him how the rep assured me the account was cancelled and I would NOT be charged. I even asked her again to make sure! She assured me again I would NOT be charged since I cancelled before the 7 day trial period was up.

He said "I'm sorry Ma'am, but when the service rep cancelled it, she didn't cancel the bonus feature of the service...But, I will cancel it now for you and you wont be charged after this." I asked about refunding the charge?? He said "I'm sorry ma'am we can't do that since this part of the service was still active after you cancelled."

Sooo, I'm ripped off for $10 from Grant Master. Very clever scheme I'd say. It is a lesson learned the hard way!

Grant Master/Raven Media Sold my credit card number to a third party Biller

I purchased the Grant Master CD - cancelled within minutes of the order and one month later had a fraud charge to my debit card from "Check Bill, WA US, Kirkland" There are multiple aliases. I tracked the charge back to Grant Master through the Internet.

There are hundreds of others with this same problem.

If you look at the terms and conditions of the Grant Master CD site... They are protected under the laws of Belize... not the USA.

They sold OUR credit card info to the third party biller!

Even if you are cancelled by Grant Master/Raven Media... your information has already been compromised!

We can file a report to FTC, cancel our credit and debit cards and spread the word to warn others on this and other sites.

We can also try to nip this in the bud and have Grant Master/Raven Media cease this practice.

This is an update on my Report I posted 3/14/08 WOW! I am amazed how fast this was!! I just hope they follow through. Here is a copy of the email I received today...Whoever wrote this to me sounds legitimate and fair. Too bad they haven't imposed this standard onto their telephone reps. :(
