As most of us are aware the economy is suffering, but so to is my pocketbook. Since I will have three children in college starting this fall, I have been looking for ways to see how I can fund their tution so that they are not straddled with loans for the next ten years.

Maybe the lure of getting free money was too much for me, I know better there is no such thing as free anything let alone money. Much to my amazement I went to there web site and filled out the little boxes on the side. Acknowledged that I would like to receive there downloaded grant package for $1.99. I should have known this was to good to be true.

Since I downloaded the information I figured I could look at this at anytime and saved the site to my favorites, not true. To date I have not been able to log into the site or had any assistance to get therre.

Since then I have received at least six to eight emails a day that tells me I have until midnight to get my $25,000 in grant money, and free offers for children's latops and camera's. For the grant money you are directed to another site that you fill out an updated information box and has a fee associated with it. For the other offers you only have to pay shipping and handling otherwise the product is free.

Needless to say when ever you receive something for $1.99 you need to make sure you read everything on that page and in the terms, because it usually means that you are signing up for a monthly subscription, or you will be charged a fee later upon a specific amount of time. I thought I had read everything, missed something somewhere and seven days later I was charged $94.89. So far I can not figure out what you get for this membership besides emails directing you to other sites to get your grants.

Since I had not been able to find a phone number to reach this site I contacted my bank to have this charge disputed. Ironically they knew the site and said this happens to many people and before you sign up for anything you should know what your getting. The bank put in a dispute for me, but in the interim I had to cancel my debt card and have another one reissued, this will be about sevel days. The bank also provided me a contact number to see if I can get this disputed with request a grant.

I spent almost forty-five minutes on the phone to see if I could get this money refunded to me. The young lady who answered the phone made sure my subscription was cancelled so that I would not receive any future charges. FUTURE CHARGES? I was informed that the monthly fee would have been $94.89. I now have to send an email to a support site to see if I can get a refund.

These sites should be ashamed of themselves, people that are looking to see if they can qualify for some kind of funding are not usually people that can afford to spend money. I should have known better, but the $1.99 got me since it would be only for downloading and accessing the information instead of getting something in the mail I fell for it.

Needless to say since I wasn't expecting the money to come out of my account other bills didn't get paid somethings bounced and now $1.99 has cost me significantly more than I anticipated or expected.
