I also received the "personalized" offer for the "Greatest Kept Secrets' 59 page book and the offer for Free Membership to this "exclusive" secret association/cult/sect. Is it Opus Dei? Oh, possibly the Masons? Or perhaps it's an 'absolutely free' membership into the Osmond Family! The letter is at best an exercise for a High School Psychology or Marketing/Fund Raising Class and at worst, it's an extremely winded repetitious 6 page Scam letter that uses more adjectives and 'stroke-isms' then I've ever seen in the cheesiest of advertising campaigns or TV Infomercials.

Sadly these types of come-ons are not innocent 'invitations' to join the 'Greatest Kept Secret' association but an effort to obtain personal information and most likely money from unsuspecting gullible people. Their 'Secret' is that they are trying an elaborate scam to victimize the public by appealing to the vanity and self consciousness of the reader. It promises a whole range of wishes: a more sexually exciting life, more powerful and assertive personality; more physical beauty (without Botox or surgery); the psychic ability to control other people's thoughts and actions (yes, I know that's a juicy one, isn't it?!); and among many other promises, extreme financial success! Sounds too good to be true. Oh, did I mention, 'It's absolutely free"!!! NOTE: I counted at least 18 mentions of "free" or 'absolutely free' or 'completely free of charge'!

This letter has the potential to prey upon the most vulnerable of our society: the elderly; the hopeless; the superstitious; and sadly the mentally unstable. The letter constantly states that 'they know you (the reader) and it beckons the reader to reply to 'strengthen' your 'psychic powers', etc. It would appear that there might be two different letters: one directed at women and one at men. It speaks of the reader entering their 2nd cycle. Dishwasher, Washing Machine, or Menstrual? It's a real "snake-oil' come-on letter; particularly obnoxious and offensive to my way of thinking.

As another commenter queried, I too, wonder where they purchased their mailing list and would be very eager to pursue these scanks to find out what's behind this strange and potentially dangerous letter!

My Dad was a NYC Cop and always said, "No one gives you something for nothing!" Keep those words in mind when reviewing this and under no circumstances should you reply to this scam!

Greatest Kept Secrets - How they got my name & address

AUTHOR: Arla - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 04, 2008

I know how they got my name and address. A few weeks ago I ordered Dan Mannarino's Think & Lose hypnosis programand my name was spelled wrong. Since then I got 2 different letters (1 -letter to buy pineapple pills to lose weight, 2 - letter to join secret organization and receive free 59 page book of Greatest Kept Secrets) with my name spelled the same wrong way. Therefore, my information is coming from Dan Manarrinos company because that's the only place that has my name wrong like it does.
