Months ago, I purchased a prepaid Green Dot credit card with $46 on it for a specific purchase. I live a block from the Dollar Store where I bought it and returned there 5 minutes after the purchase to cancel the card, because I am unwilling to give my Social Security card number in order to activate the card. The store said the money, which was still in the cash register, was unavailable because it was already electronically on it's way to Green Dot bank, and that I'd have to get my refund from Green Dot directly.
That has proved impossible to do. When the phone mumbers on the card are called, none of the menu options are for a refund, and you can't speak to a live person. I have only spoken to a live person twice, and both times it was when I returned to the Dollar Store and called the same numbers from their phone.
The last time I spoke to a person, her kept switching me to recordings trying to sell me items or sign me up for various subscriptions, and I kept yelling "No!" for my responses to this automated recording. Every time the representative got back on the phone with me, I told him "No more ads!" I ended up hanging up on him 2-3 times and he always called me back immediately. Finally he said I was at the last part of the process, and when he switched me over to the prerecorded crap again, the first thing the woman said was, "Welcome to the family! You'll be getting a confirmation letter..." When the representative came back on the phone, I questioned those remarks, he reassured me I hadn't bought anything or signed up for any subscriptions, and that I would be getting my refund.
Now I've received a letter telling me I will be getting magazines I agreed to in that phone call! Thgere was a number in the letter to call to cancel, which I tried to phone twice, and both times a recording said "Sorry we can't take your call right now. All representatives are busy. You must call again between the hours of 9-5." Both times when I called it was early afternoon!
Now what? I don't want any magazines. I refused all the things in that recording as adamantly as anyone can. If you can get a copy of that phone recording, you'll hear me screaming "NO!" and "NO MORE ADS!" over and over. I need my money back. It's been over two months of this bs. Who can help me?
