Green Orange Villas Stolen Booking Deposit Davenport Florida

In early 2007 I made a reservation online with Green Orange Villas to rent one of their houses in mid June of 2007. When it was time to make the final payment I did so online. When I sent a check in for the payment I was informed that the check was not signed and that my booking would expire at midnight that night. I made several dozen attempts to reach the company by phone. I found several phone numbers for them on the internet but none of them were ever answered. I continued to try for several days to contact them by phone and even by fax and email.

I received the occasional from the owner Roger Colby telling me to try to pay again by credit card. During the time I was searching for more contact phone numbers I found a great deal of negative information about the company. I noted this with Mr. Colby on email and asked him to call me to discuss the reservation. I wanted to find out if Mr. Colby was a trust worthy individual on the phone before I sent the rest of the money.

After he made it clear that he would not speak with me on the phone I decided not to continue to do business with him. I asked for my booking deposit of $250.00 back. He said that since it was canceled in less than 90 days that he was entitled to keep it. I canceled it right at 90 days but that did not matter to him. He had a history of keeping peoples booking deposits as found to be the case with the Better Business Bureau. I had a lawyer send a letter to him asking for the money but still nothing. He had more than ample time to re-rent the house but still kept the booking deposit. I want to get the word out that Mr. Colby is an untrustworthy individual and should not be patronized by anyone wishing to rent a house in the Orlando Florida area.

The moral thing to do is not steal peoples hard earned money and earn your money the way hard working people do. Not to pray on victims over the internet assuming that they can not do anything to hurt you.

I plan on notifying as many people as possible about Green Orange Villas and Roger Colby. If I can save one family from making the same mistake as I did then that is as much as I can do.
