My husband and I purchased a mobile home in 1996. We sent our monthly payments every month. For 10 years, without a problem.

In the year 2000, I became ill and had several surgeries, and because of all the medical bills, we had to file bankruptsy. We paid Greentree separately, thinking we were doing the right thing.

My husband began drawing his social security in 2005. He contacted Greentree ( it was Conseco, then ) and told them when he got his social security check. He had to call 3 times to get them to make note of it. They said they did, and for 5 years we have made the payments soon as we got the check. ( no problem )

he week before Thanksgiving, Greentree began calling and leaving messages for us to call them back. My husband called back several time, trying to find out the problem. They claimed we owed money on the insurance. Now, insurance is included in the payments. ( always has been ) They have been calling all day long into the night. Calls like ring, hangup, ring again, constantly.

I have caller id, and soon reconized the tollfree numbers, and quit answering the calls. Still the harrassing calls continued. I have high blood pressure and in poor health,under a doctors care to try to get my blood pressure under control. These calls constantly coming in, them leaving hateful and threatning messages on my answer machine. That wasn't helping my blood pressure. I sent a certify letter to Greentree in pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.15 USC1692g. I informed them that I dispute the alleged debt ( my account number. )

I requested them to provide me an explainign how they calculated the alleged debt I owed.

I also requested them to send me my complete payment history, on my account.

I requested they cease all contact with me about the alleged debt. And any further contact should be strictly in conformity with the FDCPA. It should be limited to providing me with the documentation requested in this letter. Any further contact should be made in writing, and should be submitted to my home address.
Now, I know they got the certified letter, because they kept calling and blocking their phone no. I know it was them,( same pattern of calls )

I disconnected my answer machine, and that didn't work. I finally had to have my phone no. changed. Peace and quiet for a change.

I don't know what will happen from here. I have not had any written correspondence from them, since I mailed them the cerified letter.

I did get a bill for $538.28. My payments are $234.84, and I have made every payment. They are claiming we are 2 months behind payments. I am mailing my payment tonight with copies of the last 4 months checks I sent.
We are elderly and on social security, not able to work anymore. Don't know how this will end.

I read on your forum that you can take out your own insurance. Thats not what they told us, when we purchased our mobile home. They told us, we had to take their insurance, which is way too high.

When my husband returned their calls, they told him, then, we could purchase our own insurance,but, they would have to approve it.

According to our contract, we chose 15 years to pay off. If the payments were applied to our account, like they are suppose to be, then, we only have 5 years to have it paid for. It looks like they are going to try to repossess it.

It was not us with the additude. We always paid our payments. WE WERE NOT BEHIND ON PAYMENTS. Guess you missed that part. We tried to get this all straightened out. It is them ( Greentree ) who harrass us, for no reason. We have not done anything wrong. Our payment was not even due till December. That was before Thanksgiving, the harrassment started. They are not interested in what we have to say.

I mailed my payment in and copies of my payments I sent. It probably want do any good.
By the way, they were instructed to communicate in writing to my home address.

And no, I do not want the phone calls (harrassing to start again) There is no sense in harrassing anyone. If there is a problem, then, work it out. They were not willing too.
It was them who did not respect us. We tried to talk to them. It was them with the additude, being rude and abusive on the phone. No, they did not want to hear anything we wanted to say. WE NEVER GOT RUDE WITH THEM, NOT ONE TIME.

I HOPE WHOMEVER CAME UP WITH THE IDEA TO DISPUTE A DEBT & ADDED A CEASE COMMUNICATIONS LETTER HASNT BEEN THE ONE IN CHARGE OF PAYMENTS ALL THESE YEARS! MY ADVICE IS TO SEND THEM ANOTHER LETTER RESCINDING THE CEASE COMMUNICATIONS & ASK THEM TO MAKE CONTACT WITH YOU. MY EX-WIFE WORKED FOR THIS COMPANY A FEW YEARS AGO & THEY HAVE A DEPARTMENT THAT HELPS BORROWERS AVOID FORCLOSURE BUT THEY WONT HELP IF YOU HAVE AN ADDITUDE WITH THEM, SO IF YOU TREAT THEM WITH RESPECT, THEY WILL DO THE SAME WITH YOU. GOOD LUCK
