Greg Lara - Fitness Dynamics Committed fraud. Took our money for equipment and services and never delivered. California California

I opened a personal training center in NY over a year and a half ago.  I was in the market for MedX equipment and came across a man named Greg Lara who sells MedX out of California.  DO NOT EVER PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS MAN. 

At the beginning Greg was very friendly and promised me a fantastic turn around time compared to other MedX brokers.  He also offered to oversee the installation of the equipment if I paid for his plane ticket and labor.  He required a 100% deposit upfront.  I was worried about this but against my better judgment I sent him my money.  This was a horrible mistake.

I will spare you the details but, in the end, it took Greg two months longer to provide the equipment than promised.  He gave us strange excuses that seemed inconsistent and untrue.  Greg also became very impatient, erratic and rude during all of our correspondences, even hanging up the phone on a staff member of ours.

Before I wired him money he told me he had on hand all of the equipment I was ordering.  However, about a week before shipping my order, he told me he didn’t actually have one of the pieces (an overhead press) and it would not be coming with the rest of the order.  So I had to scramble and secure one from another source (I was unable to secure a MedX overhead press) just so I would have something for our grand opening, which had already been delayed.  Greg promised to refund us for this piece of equipment, which was $3,250 (it was actually $2,500 but Greg charged us an additional fee of $750 to refurbish it so its color matched our other machines.  Clearly this never happened, yet we still paid for it.) 

The week of installation, Greg informed me that he would not be coming to our facility to oversee installation, despite the fact that we already paid for his plane ticket and labor ($1,500 in total.)  I had to scramble and find an exercise equipment installer who had some MedX knowledge.  This cost me another $1000. 

When our installers were installing the equipment we discovered that Greg did not send us all of the necessary parts (pulley wheels and bolts were missing).  I had Greg overnight these parts to us – and he told me he needed me to pay for this shipment because he could not afford it!  I went ahead and paid for it because, at this point, I just needed functioning equipment so I could open my facility.  And, of course, we had to pay our installers to come back to our facility again. 

We have been attempting to secure our refund from Greg for over a year and a half now.  We are only seeking $4750 (for the overhead press, labor and plane ticket) even though we incurred thousands of extra dollars in costs due to his delays and the installers we had to hire multiple times.  As of now, Lara has only sent us $1000 and that is only because I have contacted him dozens and dozens of times.  He has been stringing us along for over a year and a half, continuously telling us he is going to send the money at a later date.  

Greg Lara is the most unethical and unprofessional businessman I have ever encountered.  Do yourself a huge favor and purchase your equipment from someone else.  If Greg denies any of this I have all of our email correspondences saved and will happily provide them to anyone who asks.
