After purchasing the vehicle (which the saleman knew nothing about) and I mean nothing!!!!!! The processing took 3 + hours. After we agreed on a price I purchased the vechile($55,000.00 at that) with the condition they would send me a part that the previous owner had to to run an item in the vechile.
They give me 30 day tags and off I go. One month later when the tags are about to go out I call they are having pr0blems with the title clerk, they will get the title and mail it to me along with the part.I leave to go out of the country for eight days they promise me the stuff will be at my office when I get back> I return from my trip with NOTHING from them My $50,000 vechile I can't drive because the tags are expired. They tell me they will have it to me tomorrow, two days later nothing!!! I call again livid!!! They will send me the tags by the weekend(this was thurs.) Friday comes and goes and sat. afternoon I call irrate!!!!Still nothing.
It will be there by Mon or tues (I still can not drive my vechile which I had plans that I had to cancel because of this. On tues. I finally recieve a new set of tags(temps.) with no title and no part. It will be two months in 8 days and I still do not have anything!!!!!
What can I do half way across the country??????????

In the state of Texas, dealers have 20 days to transfer a title. They must pay penalties for any transfer after 20 days. My suggestion to you is this...Contact the Texas Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division in Austin and file a report on the dealer. I am not sure how it works out of state, though, as the car lot that I worked for didn't sell on the internet or out of state.
It would help if you know his P-number, which should be on the dealer tag that you were sent. Also, the TX-DOT number may be on there. If not, do an online search. You might even call the Dallas County Tax Office, go to motor vehicle titles and registration and hold for a live person. Hopefully they will run the VIN for you and tell you if it has been transferred. If it hasn't, TX DOT will be your only recourse.
Good Luck!
