GTA Deals SendOffer "Expedited" shipping = 5 weeks and no product? Internet

I placed an order for some earring studs on November 15 and paid $3 for expedited shipping.  I planned to give these as a Christmas gift.  On December 12 I emailed to inquire when I could expect to receive the item.  I received the reply which said in its entirety "1 to 2 weeks".  On December 14 I emailed and asked whether it had been shipped with tracking, or what options I might have. 

"Sid" replied:

Hi,
You should see your item between 3 to 5 days.

Canada Post's website indicates that the item I ordered on November 15 with expedited shipping was shipped on December 12 (coincidentally the same day I emailed to ask why I had heard nothing after one day short of four weeks).  

This means it will likely arrive on December 23; however, this is too late as I have a ticket to travel to my family at 8:00 in the morning that same day.  I would never have thought that I was not allowing enough time for this item to arrive and am suspicious and disappointed that apparently nothing was done with my order until I emailed in mid-December.
