A warning if you are looking for a security system for your home, Guardian security in Tulsa Oklahoma can Guarantee that you will be trapped in a contract and they will not service the hardware they install in your home.

We contracted with Guardian for a two year contract, about 6 months into the contract we decided to rid ourselves of Cable TV and telephone etc as we have Cell phones, just trying to save money wherever we could. A few months later the alarm system that we continued to use,  it was nice to know we had a loud alarm when set so at night we would be alerted of any intruder and when we were at work the alarm would go off and alert the nieghbors etc.  Soon The alarm would not set, or the alarm would set and we could not shut it off, knowing the keypad was bad we called Guardian for service and they told us it would cost $90.00 to have a service person come out. My wife gave them my number to set an appointment and they never called, so I went to thier office on the 42nd floor of this building at 81st and lewis found parking and went up the elevator but you cannot get to that floor without security clearance, blocked from the public. so in essance being thier customer you cannot meet with them face to face. So I called them and they said they will not service the unit in our house until we have a telephone, they will not cancel the contract and they will charge 90.00 for a service call and unless you have a hard line at your home they will not service the hardware. So now I have a security system that goes off when it wants, cant be set, or sometimes cannot get it turned off , I have a contract I have to finish paying for. So beware unless you have a telephone in your house you cannot use Guardian security systems and they will not fix the product they install in your home. And if you are lucky enough to have a telephone in your home to be used only for the security system then it will cost you 90.00 to have it serviced when it goes bad.,

Lets deal with fact, first of all it does not matter if you charge 90 bucks or not, I was told you will not come out a repair the hardware without a installed working telephone, and now that you mention it why should I have to pay for equipment your company installed and that is now not working correctly, you would say because I did not purchase the warranty? I say why should I have to? You should back your products 100% but then again it really does not matter because unless I have a telephone you will not come out anyway. So again I am paying for a product that does not work and I am dealing with a company that hides behind security on the 42nd floor of some building and that will not even provide service to a customer and will not even take the time to call and set the appointment? Oh wait that's because you will not make the service call.

Hard to say without all the info, but it would seem that the $90 quote for service would be because the warranty option was not purchased at the time of the sale. This individual is certainly not alone in dropping their phone line. This is a major issue, not with just us, but with alarm users all accross the nation. Some are switching to voip phones that are not compatible with any alarm panel for communication. Cellular communicators are available and (was or should have been offered as an option). They will likely be used on every install eventually. Right now they cost us more than the alarm system itself did for most homes & we have to pay a cell bill to boot, but we offer these at a very affordable price which is still less than what you will likely pay for a phone, voip or otherwise. Something to consider as well is the level of increased security. These cell units are what banks and jewelry stores have been using for years. You can't cut a cell phone line.
