Gulf Coast Title in Palm Harbor, FL along with Powerstaffing happen to be the two worst employers I have ever dealt with in my life.
I worked for an employment agency (Powerstaffing) and was employed at Gulf Coast Title for several months too long. During the time I was at GCT I seen at the least 35, however if my count is correct it was more like 50, people leave during the time I was there.
The majority of them fired for very petty reasons. It was so bad the employees would make bets as to who would stay and for how long before they were fired. All employees were hired in through employment agencies, unless you were family or involved in some way with the family.
Everyone who was hired in through employment agencies were always walking on eggshells wondering if they would be next. Even those who didn't expect to be "next" ended up being next without any kind of warning or apparent cause except maybe they weren't young, weren't driving a car worth more than 40k, or weren't gossiping as much as others. (these the only reasons I could come up with since there was no apparent cause as far as work ethics go)
Speaking of work ethics...the company stresses that you wear "business casual" clothing and will indeed send you home (supposedly) if you are dressed inappropriatly to thier (the owner and her father's) discretion. However, they (the owner, her husband, and other family) are apparently not required to follow the dress code.
If you are skinny, Barbie-like, and you wear something revealing you can bet it will be permitted. If you talk like a sailor who just got off the boat, you will also fit in quite well.
The louder, more attention drawn to yourself, the better. As far as I'm concerned, the staffing agencies (to include Powerstaffing) is just as bad as GCT because, the more GCT fires, the more money these agencies make. However, this will catch up to them. Pretty soon these agencies will have no one to work for them.
Humm maybe that's why Powerstaffing is no longer an active corporation?? If you go to work for GCT be sure to get breast augmentation and a Jaquar before going to the interview, maybe you'll have a better chance in keeping the job; experience is no issue. (Oh and by the way, make sure that you mention your boob job and Jag in the interview, you'll definatly land the job!!)

AGREE WITH JANE DOE
AUTHOR: K - (U.S.A.)

I worked for this employer for four months. What a joke this place was. I was never properly trained, the owner was always "dipping" into the funds by taking cash earnest money that people put down toward homes and the owner would take interest earned off of wire transfers. The owner bought a Lexus, Cadillac, and a Hummer; money was good!! The verbal abuse was intense!!!!! The owner, owner's sister, mother, father, and aunt needed anger management classes. As far as the dress code goes, the owner's big behind had no business wearing the jeans she could barely squeeze into. You call that professional? My favorite part is when customers begain to cash their checks from the sale of their homes and the checks were no good!!!! That was great!!!!
Hmmm, doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out now does it!

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds
WHERE IS THE RIP OFF?
AUTHOR: M - (U.S.A.)

First thing first where is the rip off? I read this so called rip off report after finding it on the internet and can find no where in it where the person was ripped off in anyway for anything.
How does this person know why the other employees were let go? Was she their immediate supervisor where she could have monitored their daily work performance? Maybe this ex-employee was paying too much attention to what everyone else in the office was doing and not enough on her own job and that is why they are no longer working at Gulf Coast Title, and if not then I say again how would this person know why the other employees were let go from the company?
Yes Gulf Coast Title is very family oriented company, why not? This comment is irrelevant.
I was also an employee for Gulf Coast Title in Palm Harbor, FL and hired through an employment agency and never did I walk on eggshells it was my opinion, more like a firm belief that Gulf Coast Title had an open door policy where questions, comments or problems could be addressed to anyone coworkers, supervisors and even the owners.
The attire that the company expects you to where, yes it is business casual to business dress depending on how much client contact you have. Any employer you work for expects a clean, neat and professional appearance from their employees. You are representing not only the company but yourself. The owner of the company was addressed in regards to attire this comment was truly ignorant why would either of the owners dress inappropriately? When they are representing their own company in the way they dress and act.
How does this person know who if any employees have had any plastic surgery? Who cares? There are many reasons people may get cosmetic procedures performed examples are, birth defects, burn victims, breast cancer survivors (in regards to the breast augmentation comment). My point is this if you don't know all the facts you should not make ignorant comments.
Was Jane Doe let go from the company or did she resign? There was no mention of this anywhere. Experience is no issue? Are you speaking from experience? Did they give you an opportunity? I had no previous experience in the real estate closing industry however I was given an opportunity for a new career and a chance to prove my worth. Did you not prove your worth? Truth be told there will always be someone more qualified and willing to work harder who would love to have your job. Perhaps this person is no longer with either company because their attitude was less than pleasant, performance not up to par, made too many mistakes or was given too many chances.
Powerstaffing is no no longer an active corporation under the name Powerstaffing. Powerstaffing had recently merged with another company and is now opperating under the name Five Star Staffing.
This person is clearly not willing to state the facts this is just a jab from a scorned ex-employee of Powerstaffing and Gulf Coast Title.
