Gulf South had invited me to come look at their cars on the lot.
My credit is bad and I was pre-approved for a $13,661 loan by Credit Acceptance Corp.
I found a vehicle , 2001 Jeep Cherokee Limited with all the bells and whistles!
83,000 miles on it.

At first the vehicle would not start, battery was re charged.
I had asked if they inspect all their vehicles and the salesman , Dereck (new & 1st day on the job) said "yes."
I said "how come if this is the 1st day this Jeep was put on the lot, why did it not start if inspected, Dereck said it's been on the lot for quite some time."
Well that;s not what the Internet sales manager told me, she said.."come on down, new on the lot and that I would really like it!"

I shrugged this off as inexperienced on the sales mans part , being new of course.
Now I had asked the internet sales manager (Sharon) how much was the vehicle and she told me it is listed at $13,900.

It ran good and the team their put together the numbers $14,500 for the vehicle plus a 7.5 % sales tax (Florida)title, tag, etc. Well my payments would have been 452.00 for 48 months with $2,500 down payment and they would not honor the $250.00 coupon off that they send me...said it was for cars, not SUV's!!

So I asked, the next day after I had escaped from the greedy sales staff, why are you listing a vehicle that you told me was origionally $13,900 to $14,900??
They said it was a fee along with the credit companys $2,500 down payment.

Well, the vehicle has a clean retail of $12,100 in the NADA guide. they just ignored me and stuck to their greedy ways thinking that I was hard up to do business with them. People, you do not have to be trapped by greedy, failures such as auto sales people because their main goal is not in you best interest, but ..just to move metal.

These parasites think that the old line of bullshit will work but it did not work for me so I will wait because I can to do business with a real outfit and not with sales people with a 4th grade education!!

I do understand that due to bad credit, people like me must pay a higher interest rate, but to be decieved by these little people with the down payument and the actual pricing games of the vehicle, it is inexcusable!!

Helping the Customer

AUTHOR: Gulf South Automotive - (United States of America)

David was a very special customer. We try and cater to each and every person that comes through the door and help them out, but David saw that Dereck was new to selling cars and thought it was his job to show him everything he was doing wrong. Dereck was a young salesman his first day on the job and as you would imagine quite nervous. We do try and inspect every car to make sure everything is 100% but sometimes cars slip through the cracks. As far as mechanical failures there was nothing wrong with this vehicle, it simply had a weak battery as David stated. $13900 was the selling price as stated plus sales tax, Tag Registration, and title fee. It would be like buying a new pair of pants for $49.99 then complaining at the register when sales tax is shown on the receipt. If David would like to come back in, I'm sure we could work something out with him as far as payments and a reasonable down payment, even though he felt it necessary to insult our fine hardworking sales people's intelligence. You can't please everyone, but it seems no one can please David.
