On July 14, 2014, I made final payment for services done by Gulftech Engines Inc. (“company”) to remove and rebuild the engine in my 1998 Ford Mustang Cobra.

On October 6, 2014, I took the car back to company due to smoke coming out of the tailpipe.

Robert, the manager, later explained both head gaskets failed and the heads needed to be milled once again and rings replaced once again.  Robert stated the cost over what I had already paid would be an additional $2,000.  I told company the warranty should cover the cost and they said it did not due to the engine overheating.  Robert mentioned the fan was not working and this was the reason why the engine overheated and both head gaskets failed.  I told the company I would not pay $2,000 and they lowered it to $900 and I still refused and after nearly 2 months of negotiation, the company agreed to repair the engine at no additional cost but I needed to buy an electric fan.  I bought the electric fan early December 8, 2014 (through O’Reilly’s) and company installed and on December 16, 2014, I picked up the car from the company’s lot.  The company then stated I needed to pay an additional $200 and I refused as company stated they would repair the vehicle at no additional cost over what I paid initially.  Before I left, I stated I needed an invoice for the repairs and they refused to give me an invoice for the re-milled heads and new rings and whatever work was performed this second time.

Note:  I purchased a new car July 2014 due to the length of time the car was in the shop the first time back in July 2014.  I did not need to drive the Mustang Cobra after I picked it up this second time December 16, 2014.   After 8 months passed December 16, 2014, I decided I was going to drive the car to work.

August 5, 2015 – after 2 weeks of driving the Mustang Cobra to work, the car’s low coolant warning light came on.  Later that day, I checked the radiator for bubbles in the fluid and confirmed there were bubbles, which is usually an indication of a problem with the circulation system (more than likely due to a warped/cracked head) and was the same issue I had initially back in July 2014 that I paid company to fix.  I have not driven the car since August 5, 2015. The car is not reliable to drive.

Total amount paid to company: $5,959.36
