We had Gutterguard remove the old gutters and installed new ones. And a few months later, we noticed a patch on the wall. We assumed it was an old wall that finally had a crack but when we had our basement finsihed and kitchen redone, the contractor noticed and investigated. He stated that the patch was there because when the new gutters were installed, not all the holes from the old gutters were properly patched so it caused water to slowly drip from the roof to the ground till it pooled and sure enough crept up & through the wall & floor boards.
In the end, we had to have the wall removed and rebuilt, the floor redone and recarpeted, $5,000 later. Called Gutterguard and of course they denied responsibility. Since the damage was so expansive, we were more worried about fixing it than taking pictures and whether it could be a legal matter.

It pooled kind of in between the walls which is why the wall rotted. No, it was like to the back of the house, underneath the deck. It was fine when then old gutters were there and it wasn't until our contractor climbed outside and look on the roof to see where the damage could have come from did we notice the gaping hole on the roof where the old gutter was.

Was anything said or written about patching holes or was it just remove old gutter and install new one? If it was "slow drip" from the roof to the ground till it pooled, didn't anyone notice the pool? It sounds more like a case of improper drainage, if it pooled next to the house.
