In 2009 my wife and I recieved an HR Block Emerald Card for our tax return and we used it till this incident. And like everyone else in these time, we live paycheck to paycheck. We have used the same HR Block preparer for over 15 years and we have followed this agent whenever he changes offices and have a great repoire with this agent. We not only used the Emerald Card for our tax returns, we also began using the card to pay for online purchases. We have the card setup so that I receive a text on my cell phone for any transaction on this card.

Jan 2011 at 6:38pm I recieved a text that a charge request was made on my card. Mysteriously this charge was exactly my complete balance right down to the penny leaving me a zero balance. I called HR Block card service to report the fraudulent charge right at that moment. I was assured that the fraudulent charge was stopped and the money would remain in my account and be transferred to my new card once I activated it. They knew the new card number the moment I called in to report the fraud and request a new card. Despite checking the card daily and receiving a zero balance, I still trusted the issue resolved and waited for the new card. I called 3 to 4 times while waiting for the new card and was to a live person in Taiwan. (red flag) They all assured me that the fraudulent charge was canceled and the money would be on my new card after activation. The new card arrived and I activated it. The balance is still zero and dispite my 10 plus calls to Taiwan to resolve this matter.

Today I call and the Taiwan Customer Service Agent again being hard to understand at times informed me that the merchant had been paid and there was nothing they could so. I have called them 6 times today and was told, "I cannot transfer you to a supervisor he is busy", "The fraudulent transaction was not able cancelled" and, "The merchant was paid so you must write HR Block a lettera letter" and to top it off I was told today I was hung up on 3 times. I have explained to these people everytime that I do not use Directv. Oh yea, Directv is a gem in itself. I am so glad I dont have that service. Directv billing is saying they have no record of the transaction so they cant help and have even hung up.

What ever you do if you use HR Block dont use the emerald card for you return. They do not protect the customers they use and dont care about you at all. I understand you pay for service, but what do you do when they fail to stop fraud? I guess HR Block has so much money they dont care how many people they rip off and let leave.
