I have been highlighting my hair for a while now and never had any complications until going to Hairdresser Inc. in Paoli Shopping Center. My friends referred me to Lori and I had been there in the past (with Rick), so I was OK with the idea of going back. Lori was new there and they said she needs people to go to her.
I had an appointment for 1, never got taken until 2. I told Lori I wasn't expecting to be there waiting for an hour and she said I shouldn't schedule on a Saturday since it's busy and takes longer.... gee, I guess it's my fault.
She rushed through my highlights, not talking much. I do recall the brush on my scalp while she was doing the highlights. Lori put the heater over my head and within 5 minutes, I was on fire. I asked another colorist to turn the heat down and she did, but a couple minutes later, I had to take it off. It hurt SO bad, I usually have a good pain threshold too. I've been through child birth.
So, I ask the shampoo girl to get Lori and Lori comes over and says "Oh, that's weird." She left and the shampoo girl took my foils out. After rinsing out, I went back to my station and sat.... for another 15 minutes doing nothing. My head hurt, I had to leave. Lori had abandoned me! I had to find her and ask her if there was anything else she was going to do for my head and she said "No". She must have been embarrassed, but it was rude to leave me after burning my scalp! I did pay $35 and tip her and the shampoo girl.
When I got home, I was crying the rest of the day from the pain... taking cold showers and popping aspirin for the pain.
The doctor said this happens for two reasons: 1) cheap product or 2) bad colorist. Must be the Colorist since I've been there previously with no complications at all.
Now, a month later, I still have scabs on my scalp and my hair has been falling out. I asked them for $35 back, but they won't do it until I get a full report from my dermatologist. The owner said that this is not their fault and not Lori's fault. (Then who???!) The owner must be banging Lori. I know 35 dollars is not a lot to ask back, but I'm just so upset over my scalp it would really make me feel better. Whatever happened to "The customer is always right"? The fact they are going to make ME go through ANY obligations to get money back over chemical burns is just ridiculous.
Hairdresser ruined my head!!!

Patron of 8 years - Phenomenal and professional service from all staff and owner

I'm not sure which salon this customer, Ally, attended, because her description of The Hairdresser Inc. could not be further from the truth. I have patronized The Hairdresser Inc. for over 8 years. In that time, I have had full highlights, single processes, and countless haircuts from various staff, including the owner. I have had full highlights done by Lori and found her to be capable, professional, and pleasant.
My hair is naturally very dark, so it requires a lot of highlight chemicals and time under a hot dryer. In 8 years, I have never experienced discomfort. In fact, due to the time required for my hair, I am always offered water and coffee (usually from the stylist, shampoo girl, and the owner)... This includes Lori.
Some stylists are more chatty than others; they take their cue from the client. If the client is mute, it is not the stylist's job to entertain for the duration of the session. In fact, Lori is quite loquacious once you engage her. As far as her technical skill is concerned, she is certified, trained, experienced, and would never "burn" someone's scalp. If this client's scalp is full of scabs, I suggest she be treated by a dermatologist, as her reaction is not normal. I am specious of whether she saw doctor in the first place, as she failed to produce a medical report; that was too difficult, but she found the time to write a scathing entry on this site.
Regarding the owner, I have known him for over 8 years, and he gives the best cuts and styles I've ever had. His kind nature and professionalism is apparently the moment you walk in the door (especially because he tries to greet each customer personally by name when they enter the salon). I have had many chats with him over the years, and they have been nothing but friendly and professional. To try to slander the name of this successful business owner, stylist, and family man is appalling.
I have referred many people to The Hairdresser Inc., and they all keep going back, because they are so pleased with the service. I'm proud to be a long-time client of this salon, and I always look and feel fabulous when I walk out those doors!

In Regards to Suspicious Complaint

The Hairdresser Inc. has been in business in the Paoli Shopping Center for twenty-three years. Our reputation in the area is outstanding. As the owner of the salon, I have had memberships in the Philadelphia Hair Fashion Guild, The Gold Circle, and am currently a member of the Paoli Business Association. Our salon was named Best of the Main Line. I continue to attend national and international seminars on business to keep up with industry standards.
We renovated four years ago and our equipment and furnishings are of the highest quality. Goldwell, which we use as our color line, is one of the most advanced products in the United States and Europe. The salon currently has twelve stylists and one nail technician. All staff members are professionals with education and experience in their fields; they attend seminars related to their profession.
Lori is an excellent colorist. She has an active clientel based on her ability to please and target her customers' individual needs. She is both polite and mannerly in the salon and very service-oriented.
The process of foil highlighting that this client received does not bring color to the scalp, eliminating the possibility of chemical burn. If the hair dyer becomes too hot, one simply raises the hood and the dryer shuts off. Our technician came out to confirm that there is nothing wrong with the dryer's heating element and we have been using it continually without incident.
This client left the salon pleased and related to the stylist that her hair was exactly how she wanted. Our policy is to put the client first in any matter, and we are willing to address correction in style or color. In our twenty-three years of business we have never had a complaint of this nature.

Sincere apology for trying to accuse the owner of this salon of wanting or doing anything with Lori. It is not true, and i'm sorry.
