Problem: Scam - Knowingly sold defective product, refused to replace or refund.

Falling for the Lace Front wig trend (lace front wigs are the type of wigs that celebs like Beyonce and Tyra are wearing), I ordered an April lace front wig from Hairpiece.com, at the price of $350 US. I also know a number of other people who purchased the same wig.

I had seen a number of people with various head sizes wearing the wig, so I was confident that with proper preparation, the wig would fit my head as well. I do not have a large head, or an excessive amount of hair. I had the wig styled by my stylist in preparation for an event, only to discover that the wig did not fit, and was EXTREMELY small. I had other friends and relatives try the wig as well, and it did not fit them either. It is too small for any head.

My mother, who hates to see me waste my hard-earned money, decided to call them to initiate some type of resolution, on what appears to be a DEFECTIVE unit. They were extremely rude to her, rudeness that went beyond the initial language barrier (they are Asian), and basically told us that if it doesn't fit, to throw it in the trash. They refused to accept a return and replacement upon inspection, a replacement, or a refund. No one in their right mind is ready to throw $350 in the trash.

Hairpiece.com is trying to make huge money off the desires of women to look like their favorite celebrities. They care nothing about good customer service, just $$$. When you call to ask about the measurements of the wig, they say that they don't know - good merchants should know their product. They know that this wig is very small, defective and won't fit the majority of those who order it, but they don't care. This is why they won't disclose the measurements - if people knew, they wouldn't buy, and wouldn't make $$$. They've even gone as far as to lie and say that Beyonce and other celebs are buying their wigs from their store. This is very shady and dishonest.

I am willing to update and or pull this review, upon a full refund of the purchase price, but for now, I will make sure that this review circulates the entire Internet. I hate to see people waste money and deal with poor and shady merchants.

UPDATE: (5/20/05) - I had two people call - they are now admitting that they received a defective shipment of wigs, all made in the petite size. So now it is obvious that my money should be refunded. They are now telling people to wait until the next shipment comes in to place an order. So now that they are admitting to the mistake - perhaps they should stick to their policy - If a manufacture's defect is found, please contact us immediately to replace your purchase. We will replace the item for the same brand, style and color at no cost. Replacements or missing items will be shipped out by Standard Shipping, regardless of the original shipping method.
