Hamlin Bank is supposed to be our hometown bank that helps people. That is a joke, my husband and I went to the bank where he has had a checking and savings account there for a few years.

We applied for a loan, so we could get out from under a mortgage company that is charging us 21% interest. During the process, all of the sudden we get turned down. My husband has a good paying job and on the job for ten years.

The problem is not getting turned down for the loan it is the fact, my son bought a mustang with his own money and it was in his father's name for personal reasons. The father had gotten a loan from Hamlin Bank but no insurance incase he would pass away. Well he did pass away in December, 2007, a woman I will not mention her name was always contacted about this loan and payments were being made, when not able we made interest payments. Seeing how the father did not have any kind of life insurance, so we were doing the best possible.

Included in this loan was the mustang, after we were turned down for the loan there was no notice what so ever from this company. They just came and reposed the mustang, saying we were three payments behind. The head loan officer would not allow us to catch up on payments, he wanted payment in full, and his reason was because of the father being deceased. When the woman there told us it was not a problem.

Not they have taken the car and want $4500.00 in order to get it back, After calling several times and getting nowhere, I just sat back and waited for the vehicle to go up for bid. Fooled again by this company, there is a place they take them to be cleaned. And a gentleman there told them he wanted to buy the car. The car never reached what I thought they did with reposed vehicles no bidding on this car. They sold it for $31.00 more than was owed on it. Car booked for $7000.

Then there was money sitting at a body shop that came from the insurance company, it had been in an accident with a small dent in the back. Hamlin bank told the body shop to send them the check which was almost $400.00.

After finding out all the facts I called the bank again, and asked about it being sold and money over and above the payoff. I get Who says there was any I told the gentlemen that I do my homework before making phone calls. In order to get any information about this vehicle, my daughter who was named executer by her father in writing. Has to pay $100.00 in order to get any information and most likely will not get any money back in return.

I am really upset how living in a small town and everyone knows everybody, how this bank can call them the hometown bank where we help you. They have done nothing to help this family, except to make a painful nightmare to continue.
