I received a letter today from the Law Office of Harold E. Scherr - he is not a lawyer and neither is his partner Richard Valle. This was a credit card debt from 2004 that was charged off. P. Scott Lowery sent collection letters and made phone calls - I answered none of them. He filed a claim with the National Arbitration Forum in Jan., 2007. I did not respond and was sent a letter in March, 2007 that CACV won the award. It stated it was entered and affirmed in the State of Florida.
The letter I received today from Mr. Scherr states that he represents CACV. It also says that it is a demand for full payment. He also states, "At this time, o attorney with this firm has personally reviewed the particular circumstances of your account." It goes on to explain how I can dispute the validity of the debt within 30 days.
What happened to the arbitration? It is not on the court records, that I could find. I am also being sued by Bronson & Migliaccio. LLC for another account. I discovered they are part of the same outfit - Collect America. What can I do to stop these collectors?

Mr. Scherr is an attorney in Florida. He has now filed a suit for a judgement of the arbitration award. I have 20 days to respond. I guess I will get a lawyer. He has no signed agreement attached, just a standard agreement from a credit card company.
