Went in 1/21/10 to make an offer on a vehicle.  Clearly on the Window in BIG numbers - 14995 after rebates.  OK, well I have 16,500 cash to dealer, that should cover tax and license.  A-hole sales manager, wants to charge me sales tax on ORIGINAL sticker of 17,500 instead of PRICE after REBATE of 14995, plus they threw in an extra 500 or so and asked me to pay $16970 or $470 more than ADVERTISED!

The salespeople are fine and they are nice.  Just like the old Harris Fresno Dodge though, the managers running the biz have their heads up their a*s, they are stupid, sporting IQs that hover around 100, trying to make up imaginary numbers, bogus financing offers, contingent rebates, generally INSULTING MY INTELLIGENCE.  Freaking a-hole morons running this company, making the nice salesman do all the dirty work before they irritate and insult the customers.

Long story short - DON'T BELIEVE ANYTHING YOU SEE OR HEAR AT HARRIS NISSAN OF CLOVIS.  Unless you are really interested in a Mexican Car, and want to learn the NEW MATH, and the underhanded sales/finance manager tactics, go buy a toyota, honda, hyundai or even a kia - these guys SUCK!

Sounds to me like your argument is with the Governor of CA rather than with the dealership.

If you had bothered to do any research, you would know the Board of Equalization, the state department responsible for collecting sales tax, has ruled that tax is to be collected on the price prior to the rebate being applied.  In other words, the rebate is to be treated as a down payment, not a discount.

It is really too bad you decided to criticize a legitimate business for following the law.  If you do not like the ruling by the State Board, maybe you could contact your elected representatives and try to get it changed.  That would be a more constructive way of using your time.

FYI, I am the A***sales manager.
