Let me start off by saying that I have made many people with Havertys very upset. I have received many emails about revealing the true cost of their product to the public. I feel that right now more than ever, shoppers need to be informed as to what they are paying for furniture, what the retailer pays for the same product and where they buy the same item for the cost. I believe at that point the consumer can make the best decision where to purchase home furnishings and mattresses from. Let me give you a few examples of what I am speaking of----

Your cost Haverty's cost
Mayfair leather sofa $1,699.00 $499.00
Santa Fe leather sofa $2,399.00 $799.00
Franklin leather sofa $1,999.00 $549.00
Rhaspody Tempurpedic
$2,549.00-$6,199.00 $699.00-$2,249.00
Deluxe Tempurpedic
$1,849.00-$6,899.00 $419.00-$2,449.00
Sealy mattress $899.00-$3,199.00 $299.00-$999.00
Serta mattress $799.00-$2,999.00 $249.00-$949.00
Marseille Master BR $2,999.00 $719.00

This is only a few examples of what Havertys sells. Let me leave you with this also. NEVER purchase the 5 year protection (GOLDPLAN). This plan DOES NOT work. It is only designed to make you pay for repairs that will never take place. Salesmen get paid big money to sell you this and they make up false testimonies about what is has done. Search the web and you will see others that have purchased this and learn first hand how they were robbed in the process. Also, never pay that crazy delivery fee. Haverty's has raised this amount by a minimum of $200.00.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Avoid paying too much for anything.

AUTHOR: Lynn - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 05, 2009

I purchased furniture years ago that I saw first at what was then a Rich's department store. I found a sofa, a matching chair and ottoman and a recliner that I liked. I delved into the cushions of the sofa and the recliner. I wrote down the manufacturer and the product's SKU number. Bought these items and the matching chair and ottoman from the manufacturer in North Carolina. Saved 60% + shipping and shipping was $200. It was worth it. Moral to the story: Let the buyer beware. Shop around. Go on-line. Be creative. There are many ways to save money. Think. Good luck.
