In December of 2011, I ordered a filing cabinet from Hayneedle.com. When it arrived the box was mangled and the contents were severely damaged and unusable, so I returned the item to the company. Their website advertises "hassle-free, no restocking fee" returns. When I received a credit on my credit card, it was not for the full amount that I was originally charged.
I began e-mailing the company to find out why I wasn't refunded the full amount and their response was that I had used "Haybucks" (some kind of in-store credit you receive when you buy from them) for the order. I explained to them that I had never ordered from them before and that my card was charged $199.99 for the order and that is the amount of the refund that I should receive. I've never used their stupid Haybucks because I've never even shopped with them before. It's not as if the item arrived and I simply decided that I didn't want it. It was so damaged that it was unusable!
On December 27, 2011, I received an e-mail stating that a refund check would be mailed and I should allow 45 days to receive it. It never arrived so I contacted them again. On January 13, 2012, I was again promised that a refund check would be sent and that I should allow 2 weeks for it to arrive. Still no check. More e-mails from me. On February 9, 2012, I was told that a refund check would be mailed that week. Still nothing.
I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and several weeks later, they closed the file saying that the company has made a "good-faith" effort to resolve the matter. I'm not sure how flat out lying about sending a refund check is a good-faith effort, so the BBB has been completely useless in this matter.
Never, ever shop with hayneedle.com/thefoundary.com because this has been the most dishonest company I've ever dealt with, and I do A LOT of internet shopping. Avoid them at all costs!
