I hired Head of the Pack Transport, (HotPT) to freight 2 farm tractors from Idaho to Florida on 1 truck and trailer.  They assured me they were experts in this field and could get ti done for 6800 dollars.  I gave them the specs from the John Deere factory including all dimensions and weights.  The factory weight included the dual tires.  They told me they could get it done on 1 truck if the combined weight was under 47,500 pounds.  Using the factory weight they would be close but still under and we were taking off the dual tires (several thousand pounds) to haul on a separate partial load if neccesary.  Knowing a little about the trucking industry I asked if the truck would have an empty weight certified scale ticket and was assured that HotPT would require that.  Things started happening fast at that point.

I was told there was a day cab truck (lightweight-no sleeper) special lowboy trailer close by.  They had to have a 800 credit card advance to book the truck.  I complied.  The truck got there and loaded 2 tractors and supposedly weight at an uncertified scale nearby.  I was told it was nearly 4000 pounds overweight.  I asked for my certified empty weight ticket, Todd said he would get it.  He calls back and sid the trucker had been there for hours and wouldn't unload the tractors unless he was assured to get paid for his time already.  I could sense something was going wrong.  Todd said that he had wired the guy truck owner 500 dollars already and he would probably keep that.  I said sometimes your best loss is your first lost so I agreed if he would unload the tractors.  Todd mentioned that sometimes truckers would hi-jack a load and hold if for ransom until they got paid, but he didn't think this guy would do that. Imagine my surprise when in about 5 minutes the truck owner called and said that he was going to take my 140,000 dollars tractor to a storage facility until he got paid his additional 6000 dollars.

At this time I was scared and thought that Todd at HotPT was on my side.  He said let me call my lawyer and see what our options are.  He called back and said the trucker would probably head out a different route and we might not catch him for awhile but we would eventually get our tractor back.  He instructed me not to take calls from the truck owner while he came up with a plan. Meanwhile Matt from HotPT had called cursing at me for not taking the deal at 6800 dollars for 1 tractor on 1 load.  I explained that would double my cost of freight.  He said could save money and potentially do the second tractor for less.  I told him no.  Todd calls back and says he's sorry for how things happened and he would refund me his fee and wouldn't charge me to move the second load if I agrred to this new plan.  At this time I had no options as I was held hostage from unscrupolous people 2000 miles away.

When the truck owner called back a few minutes later like nothing had happened, I knew I was being scammed by HotPT.  I had nothing to do but wait now for hopefully my tractors to show up.  When they did I found out that the trailers that HotPT had hired couldn't haull 11 foot high without letting the air out of the tires.  They rode all the way across the country flat or underinflated.  Most likely weakend the sidewalls and will fail prematurely.  I found out when the trucking companies arrived that there was never any money wired to them and asked HotPT for proof of the 500 (1st Truck) and 200 (2nd truck) wired advances.  they Todd and Matt both admitted that no money was ever advanced but that they had thought about it.  I told Todd that he had cost me over 3000.00 by not getting me a empty weight ticket on the first truck.  I hold him responsible because he is a supposed expert (10,000 loads in 12 years).  That's what he says.  I told Todd that if he would return the rest of the deposit from the first truck and the 200 dollars from the second truck, that he promised not to charge anyway, I would make myself satisfied.  700 dollars total, What he said he would do and he backed out of agreement.  You can't trust Head of the Pack Transport!! Fraudulent practices!!  Buyer beware!!
