We were looking for a Magento theme to run our eCommerce website, and a theme called HelloNevada by HelloThemes caught our eye.  We looked at it, and shortly thereafter, we received an email promising a 20% discount.  Immediately, we tried to apply the coupon and make the purchase, but it did not work.  The next day, we contacted support, who claimed to fix the discount.  So we tried again, and while the code appeared to work, NO discount was applied to our order and we paid full price.

When we contacted support about this, they told us the discount expired more than a week before they even sent us the offer.  I responded, calling them out for false advertising, letting them know I would go public with everything that happened.  After admitting that they were wrong about the discount code being expired, Peter Poy told me to check my attitude and quit complaining.  I told him how rude I felt that was, and I asked for a 20% refund to cover the advertised discount that did not work.  He told me they will not give me any kind of refund and accused me of blaming them for my problems.

I asked him to please explain how it is my fault that their coupon code did not work, and he either could not or would not give me an answer.  This is a very rude company that does not care about their customers, blatantly offering false discounts only to insult you and refuse to work with you if you dare to complain about it.

Stay away!  And if the advertised confuguration options make you want to buy one of their themes, don't!  They really, really rushed the configuration options, and it is very easy to see that.  There are missing features, identical descriptions copied / pasted for multiple fields so you have no idea what they actually represent, fields that appear to do nothing, etc.

Update with correspondence from HelloThemes

AUTHOR: Dan - ()

POSTED: Monday, June 02, 2014

This is not a rebuttal, but an update on the latest from this company.  When I linked them to this ripoff report and told them they could explain themselves here, this was Peter Poy's response, received on 6/2/2014:

"You're a very funny guy.

Riddance!"

As you can see, they care very little about their customers or their reputation.  This is what you have to look forward to if you choose to do business with HelloThemes!  For your own sake, just say no!
