I went to buy a Samsung TV for my dad, who is elderly and lives by himself before going back on my vacation.  I knew he would not be able to set up the TV by himself without me there, so we asked the salesperson if the deliverymen would install the TV and show him how to use it and hook up the TV with the other devices (speaker, headphone, DVR, etc) my father has.  The salesperson asked his associates if the deliverymen would do these things, and they said yes.  Based upon this understanding, we purchased the TV.

1.  The deliverymen came a few days later, but just plugged in the TV.  They did not teach my father anything nor did they hook up the TV with any of my father’s other devices. 

2.  Also, according to my father, the screen at times goes dark so that he sees dark images moving around.  The manager of Hhgregg says that there is a feature of Samsung TVs that senses the darkness of the room and adjusts the screen.  He also said that my father probably pushed a wrong button and that there is nothing wrong with the TV.  Whether there is something wrong with the TV or not I do not know.

Anyway, I asked for a refund but the manager said that they would refund everything except the $80 delivery charge.  Alternatively, he said, he could send a technician out to check everything and hook everything up and give my father instructions on how to use the TV, at an additional cost of $150 (minus the $80 from the delivery cost that he would give us on credit).   It is strange he would give us credit for the $80 if we agreed to have a technician come out at extra expense; but would not credit us the $80 if we wanted to return the TV. 

Bottom line is that we wound up keeping the TV because my father was so frustrated that he no longer wanted anything to do with HhGregg and he said he will try to find someone to help him hook up the TV and hope that the dark screen problem doesn’t come back.    

Too bad HhGregg doesn’t exercise better business practices, because they surely have lost a customer in us.

Whoever you are, you sure spent a lot of time to write a rebuttal.  Since you don't even sign your nreal ame, I won't even take the time to argue with you.  Besides, you obviously have no clue what the situation was because you are so way off base. 

Anyway, to update my report, I would like to thank the hhgregg corporate office for calling me and being willing to do everything we had requested in the first place (i.e. send a person out at no extra cost to us to install everything for my dad and help him learn how to use the TV.)  The lady at the corporate office (her name is Bethany) was fantastic and very much wanted to make things right.

Ultimately, we declined their offer because by that time, my father's neighbor asked one of his friends who is good with electronics and technology, to come over and he helped my dad with all that.  But I thanked Bethany and wrote an update on Facebook and gave hhgregg 4 stars out of 5.  The minus 1 star was for the store manager who had a terrible attitude and treated us like crap.  

I can accept miscommunication and mistakes, but when employees treat customers poorly and rudely, customers just take their business elsewhere.

 So YOU hold other people responsible for YOUR parents ignorance. People EXPECT to get paid!!! It costs money to LEARN!!! So YOU didn't pay the "teaching and hookup" fee and somehow they are MAGICALLY monsters because YOU shirked YOUR responsibility to YOUR parent. its on YOU to teach your ignorant parent HOW to work his devices. Its on YOU to ensure that he understands how to use the items. YOU are placing the blame on hhgreg because YOU couldn't be bothered. Grow up!!! Classes for learning a smartphone START at $100. So either YOU pay someone to teach him or YOU DO IT YOURSELF! I mean REALLY! YOU are SOOOOOOOOO busy that YOU cant do YOUR PART as his child?? Truly disgusting....and you and I BOTH KNOW what the question was that YOU asked. "Will they be able to hook up his DVD player and show him how to use it?". They tell you YES it is something they can do. But once it came to payment of that service, YOUR MONEY was no where to be seen. YOU cant expect the delivery driver to STOP doing their job to teach YOUR parent how to work a remote IF that service WAS NOT PAID FOR! So not only did the driver do the right thing and go on with his other deliveries, but YOU failed to pay for that service and THAT IS ALL THIS IS! It surprises me that he cant even READ A BOOK! Is he so old that ENGLISH is "new" to him?? No, we know that to be untrue. So blame EVERYONE else BEFORE even doing the simplest of tasks LIKE READING!! Every electronic device comes with instructions. YOU could have looked up the television ONLINE since YOU purchased it. YOU could have called and told him HOW to work it and hook it up. Did you do that? We know the answer....don't we?? You claim hhgreg needs better business practices, I say they need BETTER CUSTOMERS! YOU assume a lot. YOU expect a LOT of free services that are NOT yours to expect. This is a failing on YOUR part as a child and a failing on your parents part for not even reading the instructions. YOU didn't pay for "teaching and hookup" and that is all YOUR complaint boils down to. if YOU wouldn't work for free then YOU CANNOT EXPECT OTHERS TO!
