Hibiscus Day Spa I feel like my family and I were duped, bamboozled and lied to and just disrespected in every way. Brooklyn New York

My name is Kim A***. I'm writing you because I believe my family are the victims of a business in which the owner Hollis Barclay operates her business with poor ethics and business practices its really appalling.

I visited the business which is called Hibiscus Day Spa on September 26th in 2009 with my parents I took them there for their wedding anniversary to give them a treat because they have always done so much for me. The reason I say that my family and I are victims to Hollis Barclay and her staff her work at this spa especially my parenets because she lied to me she told when I spoke to her over phone and let her know that I wanted my parents to be well taken care and that who ever is attending to has to be mindful of that.

She told me don't worry that my parents would well taken care and that I don't have anything to worry about which was a lie because when I arrived at her place of business the area looked really blighted a total eyesore.

On the website and in a trusted magazine which would be Essence the business is rated all across the board as five star so I was confused and taken a back at the ghastly appearance of business as far as the outside was concerned and from what people have told who have visited that horrid business since I visited which was way back when have told me that things are still the same that Hollis is still operating her business under trifiling conditions its terrible. This is why I want to put her on blast because she is a manipulative, conniving and low down dirty, scheming, snake who preys on those who she thinks is weak its not right.

She took my kindness for weakness and I'm not gonna stand for that again!  I  always wanted to help out my people wether its a black owned business I'm patronizing or a black organization I'm supporting I have always been about trying to keep money in my community going strong. If I can support businesses and organizations by people of of ethnicities and races then why can't support my own. I love to support a worth cause and worthy business and it hurts me when said worthy business and the owner of it s telling me that my parents will receive five star treatment and in actuality they don't receive that at all its more like no star treatment I couldn't believe it.

Its bad enough the place looked from the outside like the movie Nightmare On Elm Street the three of us were saying to ourselves there is no way that this spa is located in this area there has got to be a diamond amongst all this rough rough edges. There was no diamnond just rough edge after rough edge it was like a little freaky. We walked some more closer to building and saw the sign for the place and the name of the business was on it once we walked inside it was no better you could hardly see the hand in front of your face.

There were no soft candles no light soothing music to set the mood at all it was just dim lights that so low you could hardly see anything in front of you it was not back then or now a place I recommend for someone to go for relaxation at all. The chairs in lounge area were hard as a rock not comfortable at all except for one couch thats it. While they were being attended to by the massage therapists I sat on the couch waiting for them but before they could receive their massage I kindly spoke to the women who would be giving them their massage and nicely reminded them that my parents are older people to  please be careful. The women both told me I had nothing to worry about because they are well trained massage therapists and they have been doing this for a long time Hollis also told me I didn't need to worry.  

After I was done speaking to the two women who were the massage therapits and Hollis about this matter. I went upstairs with them and my parents to the 2nd floor because I wanted to see what the room looked where they would be gettiong pampered looked like it looked very dull and not what I was expecting at all from a couples massage room it wasn't dirty but it wasn't spectacular either. After I checked out the room I left my parents with those women who siad they would be in good hands which turned out to be a lie because my mom and dad told me that the women who gave the couples massage was rough and they dropped hot not warm but steamming hot towels on their backs can you believe that! I couldn't believe that after I had the discussion with the women I could not believe that would happen.

Then my parents were supposed to receive a wine and fruity platter after they came down stairs from the couples massage room I gave them my seat on the couch which was a two seater so they would be very comfortable because those other seats were hard as a rock I sat on bench before I sat down I asked one of the women who worked there to bring a table I actually had to go after the staff members because the were slacking on the job I couldn't believe it and ask for a proper tray because the one they tried to bring the first time was wobbly.  The wine was flat and the fruit looked moldy and grotesque looking which of course my I made sure my parents did not eat or drink talk about disgusting eww!

I complained to the staff members asked them like what is this how could they serve this to my parents like that I mean is this some sort of sick joke and they just brushed it off. I told Hollis the same thing and she also brushed it off as if it was no big deal and to me that's crazy because it is a very big deal becasuse while my parents were getting what was supposed to be pampering which turned out to be more on the abuse side I was offered tea in a dirty mug and tea bag that looked like it was floating in dirty dish water talk about disgusting you know I didn't drink that no thank eww!

That spa was and still is the spa from hell my parents were supposed to couples manicure pedicure that was also a terrible experience because the way it was done it was so done in such a rushed way and manner it looked a three year old painted my nails it didn't look professionaly done at all. Hollis who is the owner of this business lacks couth and just basic protocol as far as how to treat customers wether they are new or someone who has been visiting her business over a period of time. She has a nonchalant I don't give a d**n about my customers well being type of attitude and in turn because she feels that way her staff have internalized and they also treat people the same way.

She is very cold and callous and just all about the one thing and one thing only and thats money she and her staff members could careless how well customers are being treated or taken care of as long as money is being made at their expense. She does not dress like how a professional business owner should dress. Her attire usually consist of two thigh slits on both sides of a dress or a skirt a skimpy top and open toed shoes to me she looked like a madame or a hooker in a brothel I was like is she selling sex on the side talk about receiving a happy ending with your massage I looked all over to see if she had a champagne room in the spa which she didn't thank goodness so it wasn't a brothel.

 The way she is dressed it would make you think like sometimes she has people meaning women she hired from escort agencies to turn tricks on the side to earn some extra money just so inappropriate on so many levels words can't even describe how descpicable she is. Her staff who is also in cahoots with her al though that maybe the case they dress more professional then she does and she is the owner of the business I could that be talk about not having any tact and just being down right low rent and everything a person should never be especially if you own a business.

I confronted her before I left her place of business and let her know she is a scum bag and that she needs to give me back my money because of what she did to my parents which is horrible and she told me that I won't be getting my money back because she and her staff didn't do anything wrong and she knows that's a lie that they did do something wrong. My parents were burned and she lied to me telling they would well taken care which was all a falacy because she nor her staff ever intended on coming through with what they promised to for my parents even though I told her that it was their wedding anniversary she didn't give a d**n like I said before all she cared about was the money she was getting.

I paid $395.00 close to $400.00 for what a spa experience that was nothing but a nightmare from beginning to the end a day that was a time for them to be a day that my parentys were pampered and enjoy themselves will be forever marred by the fact the were used and abused burned and just basically lied to thats not right! Once we got home I took them to the doctor and thank goodness they were not as badly burned as I thought because then she would have a law suit filed against her. I beleive I should get compensation for the amount of money I paid taking my parents to that crummy shanty town of spa because what happened caused alot of pain and suffering mentally and emotionally then and still today the pain has not gone away. 

She needs to be hit where it hurts in her pocket because she has carried on with her unscrupulous business practices for way too long and she is dead wrong! I want her to pay today I'm seeking justice now so that this doesn't happen to someone else I want you to go after her on behalf of me but I would like to remain anonymous because I'm telling the the truth I just don't want any retaliation to come back on me or my family meaning that I don't want her to have access to my home address all she needs if she wants to contact me is my cell phone number and name that is it ok.
